I did a test shrinkie today on my own head. I think I'd really like this method...except how do I get the thing out now?  I tried heating it up but it doesnt seem to be budging. HELP!

How hot do I need my iron thing to be to remove?

Yikes. I managed to get it out but it took for ever. I had the heat thing up to the highest and had to really keep it on for a long time and it only slid off a little bit at a time.  I thought these things were suppose to slide right off?  I managed to get the tipped hair out pretty easy but the shrinkie was totally cemented to my hair. I think I lost a few hairs pulling the dang thing off.  What was I doing wrong?  Are they harder to get off dry curly hair?

I've come to the conclusion that not all hair reacts the same to shrinkies.  I've uninstalled them several times and used 3 different brands.  Some do come out easily...but just as many pull hairs.

cherry, after you get the shrinkie heated up to where it warps are you keeping pressure on the wand and sliding it down the hair?

Yeah it was on so tight I think I could probably gotten away with having the shrinkie without any adhesive inside. It was cemented in there something fierce! I had the rod on high and held it there for longer than I imagine you needed to and it just was so stuck to my hair.  Have you noticed any difference between straight and curly hair when it comes to shrinkies?  I'm afraid to try again because it took me a long time to get that little bugger out.

Yeah at first I made the mistake of heating it up and trying to slide it off but it cooled down way too fast for that. I finally slid it down the hair with the wand but it seemed to tug and stick and hurt all the way down. By the time it came off it was totally a rolled up ball of nothing. It looked like a big ball of bonding glue.  The adhesive was hard for me to get out too and I had that orange citrus stuff that the one girl here sells.

how long did you leave it in for?  I found its easier to remove them after a few weeks

Oh only a few minutes. I just put it in and turned around and took it out a few minutes later to practice. I wanted to practice before I got a lot of them in my hair.

ahh, it was probably too fresh, the glue inside the shrinkie breaks down after a time, like any glue, so it should be easier to remove after a 12 week wear

What are your pre tips made of? You should know that they come out much faster when they have been in for awhile. I have had to take a few off right away when the tip sliped out while installing and the adhesive is fresh you do need to leave the heat on it longer. But trust me if they have been in for a month or more they do come right out.
