Wow, you have really done your homework...GREAT JOB!!!
You are truly using the best of the best products and have gotten some great advice.
First, addressing the breakage. Sometimes things we go through in life such as stress etc, can weaken the hair and make it break like that or even a medication like anti-biotics, birth control, or even anti-depressants can weaken the hair causing breakage. And since the products or the procedure of the highlights have not changed, those can be a few reasons.
Another could be.... Has your stylist changed color products? Do they place you under a dryer when they haven't before? Some stylist are starting to use a new "color excelerator" to make the color process faster. This product bothers me because the chemical make-up of haircolor is a slow process and when you add something to speed it up, it can't help but dry and damage the hair.
I love studying the chemical make-up of hair and the products we apply to it, so I hope some of these suggestions will help.
The colorist suggestions sound pretty good.
