Hello and welcome aboard. I am a 3c/4a as well. I just started using two new oils :wheatgerm oil and apricot kernel oil. they work great on my hair and i also use castor oil as a preshampoo treatment. i hope you enjoy your stay here and happy hair growing.

Hello,
I'm totally new at talking to anyone on line. You see my daughter has African-American hair from her father's side. She hates her hair and wants to get the very expensive Yuko thermal straightening. I'm looking for answers. She also highlighted once, tinted twice and I get mixed information about whether her hair is really okay for this treatment. Her hair is beautiful and she hates curly hair. She's a teen entering high school. It seems like such an extreme measure. I found Quidad products and ordered some. She doesn't want to make her curls more beautiful, she wants to eliminate them! Help.

Hi Kathleen,, I am also half black and half white
and had very very curly hair right up till i was 16 when
i straightened it, and colored it., I didnt know how to
care for it and i practically lost all of my hair , , if i
could do it over again I would try to go a different
route,, chemicals are harmful to the hair especially
when your young and dont know how to take proper
care of it. When i was nineteen nearly the entire front
of my hair went down to about an inch,, i was
depressed and had to wear a head band all the time
cuz the back didnt match the front,, Im 22 now and
my hair is just down to my shoulder in the front and
finally radiant and healthy. If your daughter wants to
straighten her hair be sure to make sure she takes
very protective care of her hair or she may be
regretting she ever touched her pretty curls with any
chemical....
Kat:-)
