Well I bought this good gel that doesn't dry out your hair and it doesn't get stiff or hard. It has brillent shine but it has mineral oil in the ingredients! I don't really worry about it as long as I rinse it out the next day. So I did that one day and my hair was really greasy! So now I only have one choice: wash my hair everyday or switch the gel. Can anyone find a good gel or mousse that doesn't have any bad ingredient and that doesn't get hard or stiff? Or if no one can find that is there a good lathering conditioner that kinda washes your hair but doesn't dry it???

Have you narrowed it down to the gel? Mineral oil is only added to gels at a very negligible amount. Could it be your shampoo? A harsh shampoo, for example, can make the scalp produce more grease.

I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean "by narrowing it down", sorry. Well I doubt my shampoo would make it more greasy beauce it takes out the grease but makes my hair dry. Can't I use a shampoo that doesn't dry my hair or a conditioner that lathers and doesn't dry??

I meant, have you eliminated other explanations for the grease, besides the gel? Have you had any other changes to your hair routine?

A heavy duty shampoo would strip the oils off your scalp and length, usually resulting in dry hair, but also resulting in a greasy scalp after a day or two (because the scalp will overcompensate). This almost always happens with shampoos containing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, or Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. Hope this makes sense.

What are the first three ingredients of your shampoo, of your conditioner, and of your gel?

Would Cream of nature shampoo and optimum care super strong conditioner work for me?? Those are the next shampoo/conditioner that I am getting. They are made for my type of hair. I heard that if you don't switch to different shams/cons that your hair will ger damaged or something. Is this true?

That's bizarre. For one, your gel has mineral oil listed second and that's really really high up on the list... Frankly, I'm totally stumped about the grease thing.  Mineral oil is supposed to dry your hair out, not make it greasy. Frequent washing can also cause greasiness, but that was your reaction to the original grease issue.

As for the switching products, I've heard the same thing... but I don't switch products very often and see no ill result of that. Again, it probably depends on hair type.

Experiment as often as you need to, but just remember to make one change at a time. Experimentation is the only way to find the perfect routine. If you think the s/c brand will work, give it a go.

Hope this helped a little

MizzCathy You can also try a leave-in conditioner instead of a gel.

On the other hand, both the Dove and Aussie stuff look really good, Tiramisu.
