Hi Everyone,

I registered with the Boutique, as I'm about to make a drastic change to my hair, as a result of some drastic changes in my life, and I really want to check the facts first.

I have extremely long, Medium thick Hair, Naturally Mid Brown, which I have been using a permanant natural Black colour on (Clairol Nice and Easy No.01) for the last 3 years. It's in excellent condition, but I've just overcome some bad times, and got myself back on my feet, and happy again.

I really  want to have my colour taken up to what it was 6 years ago; which was a mid brown, with lots of Blonde Highlights (Think Cindy Crawford 1994 era). 1 Small local salon tells me this could not be done - but I feel it has something to do with the fact it will be a massive job, possibly involving using a chemical colour stripper, highlights, lowlights - I cannot say. But I do know so many people who have made the change successfully through highlighting at a good salon.

I have already posted this query on the Introduction forum, and someone very kindly suggested I try taking a box of Colorfix to the salon with me as this is a more gentle color remover.

Does anyone have experience of this, or any advice. I dont want to totally wreck my hair, but I do not mind losing some length if needs be. I just want my hair to reflect the restored me.

Any advice greatly appreciated!!

L x

Hmmmmm.  Well firstly I would find a good salon, and have a consultation with them and see what they say.  The best bet is probaby just getting highlights done.  I've gone from black to platinum blonde.  I did this with my hairdresser, but she used bleach which I would not recomend.  Try a few shades lighter than you are looking for and get weaved highlights.  This will create and over all natural look, (rather than streaky).

I hope this helps!

Thanks for this; I really hope you are right, as I have had bleached in woven Highlights before, (years ago) and they looked great; I will definitely try a consultation at a salon first - it's just a case of finding a colour technician who can face the huge challenge at hand!!! Most normal stylists take one look at my hair and just shake their heads, or say, "oh but you have such lovely hair! Are you sure you want to change it?" . But I'm on a mission now!!

Thanks for taking time out to reply.
