Next Friday is the Jamboree for my school. I'm 7 months post
relaxer (I know a long stretch) and I've been doing braidouts for the
past couple months. Where I live it is very humid and the humidity
makes the crimps I get from the braidout fall. On the average,
braidouts last me a few hours unless I'm indoors. The problem I run
into is I don't know of a different hairstyle I can do for the jamboree
that won't fall. This is going to be a really big event and everyone
and they mama is going to be there. I don't want my hair to look like a
big poof ball at the end of the night because my new growth will soak
up all the moisture in the air. Any hairstyle suggestion that would
hide my new growth and not revert would be greatly appreciated. Sorry
so long but I don't want my hair to look like "who did it and what for"
and the end of the night. TIA

Maybe you can try wearing a bun or a phony pony or a wig.

I have never been a big fan of weaves or wigs so it's not like I
have some in my drawer that I can pull out and I don't have any money
right now to buy any hair. Maybe a bun could work. I never tried to
wear one though. Any tips on how to make one.

Sistaslick helped me a whole lot w/ making a nice bun. You use a sock and/or stocking w/ the toe part cut out and roll it into a donut shape. There's instructions on the post about the girl who is in JROTC. Sweet Ambrosia posted it. Here's the link:

Thanks for the suggestions. The bun doesn't look too hard. I think I will try it. Hope it comes out right.
