I had never colored my hair in my life until a few days ago. I thought I'd
try an at-home highliting kit, and it turned into a disaster. The kit was
L'oreal Feria and I THOUGHT the highlites would be light brown. Turns
out, they were red. Anyway, so I tried to lighten them a bit using some
Sun-In, which did nothing. Next, I bought a hair color remover kit, which
left a huge orange spot on my head. By then, I already just wanted my
natural color back and to forget the whole thing. So, I bought some hair
color in my natural color. This left my roots a reddish-orange. I finally
gave in and went to a hair salon. The lady there dyed it my natural color,
called it "perfect," and charged me a bunch of money. I got home and saw
no difference between before I went there and when I got home. GRR! My
hair is now basically a rusty orange and all I want is to have my medium
brown color back! Isn't there some way to fix this so it looks like it never
happened?? I think I've suffered enough!

How does your hair feel?  Is it dry/brittle?  If so, maybe you can leave it for a week or two while you deep condition to get it back on track.  If it feels okay, I can't see any reason why you can't  go back to the salon and ask the stylist to fix her color job, since she didn't give you what you asked for.  I would think all she needs to do is go over your hair with a demi-perm using a blue base to counteract the orange.  Perhaps that is what she did...who knows.  But I would definitely go back and ask what else she can do to bring your hair back to a neutral brown with no visible orange tones.  Maybe a better colorist might be able to achieve this for you.  Best of luck.
