I have typical straight asian hair. I consider it pretty thin but strong enough. I've had the spikey/messy look for a few years now but I've never been completely satisfied because when I apply wax/pomade, my hair basically sticks straight up or in whichever direction I want. In the end, I have the messy look going, almost. Problem is, I want the hair to be thicker so that you cant tell one strand from another as it is now. I dont cut my hair very short but this problem is still here.

If I went to a salon and asked them to fix it, could they? Would they have to curl my hair or cut it into layers or something else? For those of you who watch Korean/Japanese dramas and seen the guys and their hair, it looks soft and full. You dont see individual strands or batches of hair all in the same orientation. I don't know if I'd really want to curl it since it'd be extravagant and I still attend college, but I'm interested in what layering means for guys with short hair (not SHORT short).

Hairdressers wouldn't be able to make thin hair thick.  They should be able to suggest tips and products for making it look thicker, though.

hmm what they do is since is either they have a sof perm to soften the hair, or bleached it to make it soft.

You should try Mane and Tail shampoo i can't guarantee anything but it might help with achieving that full healthy look

also those guys in the dramas have longer hair than you think. longer hair = to less spikey hair.
