I have deyed blonde hair, have for years. I died it red a few months ago, then blonde again.

Now my natural color, a dark dirty blonde, is growing back a lot. I have about an inch and a half of roots showing.

I want to dye my hair so it kind of matches that, but I am afraid it'll show up outrageously dark on the dyed blonde.

Any ideas on what to use?

(And I dont have the money to go to a salon right now, so thats why I do the coloring myself)

Buy a shade that's two shades lighter than what you're shooting for. Then
it should probably match your roots.

OK, I just made a post about my experience with filler. I had platinum blonde and wanted to go a tad darker. I bought Lock-In Blonde at Sally's Beauty Supply. It work wonderfully! I don't know how long your hair is, but mine is to my bra strap on my back. I quadrupled the instructions. 10 drops for 1 oz of warm water was suggested. I put it in a spray bottle. I FREAKED as it was spraying gold/orange.

What I was told was that the lighter the shade, the less pigment you have. You have to fill the pigment in order for darker colors to take.

The end result color I picked ended up a bit lighter than the lighter shade on the box. Fine for me, but it depends on how light your colored hair is now. I was just looking to tone down a tad.

What color have you been using?
