I got my hair done on Saturday. I used to have long blonde hair, and i decided since i've been trying to grow it, I would go for a dramatic colour change!! I asked for goled brown and got golden black!!!! But if that's not bad enough, I asked for a trim.
Now to me a trim is just the very ends like half an inch, but for some strange reason the hairdresser thought a trim meant 2 and a half inches!!! How stupid do you get!! He also feathered the front and so it looks even shorter than it is!! It's bad enough I have to go back and get my colour fixed, but it's now short!! It's at that stupid length just below the sholders, where it seems to stop groeing for about 6 months. It has taken me ages to get it past my sholders!! I'm so upset!! If my hair was stil long the black wouldn't look as bad, but mow it looks so short!!! I'm so sad!! I need a hug!!  ------------- Nikki :) |

Those hairdressers are a nightmare. And those trimms, what can I say, I think everyone that has gone to a hairdressers have had this problem. My guess is that she/he thought your hair was damaged from coloring and bleaching and wanted to get rid of it. This is what has happened to me, when I got my hair trimmed I went from Bsl to sholders. But they are never going to get that chance again. A trim is only supposed to be a trim!!!!   |

I know!! I'm so annoyed!! I'm going on holiday in 6 weeks and I won't be able to ty it all up now due to the severe layering!!
Hairdressers can be so so stupid!! They don't realise that although they are probably doing the right thing when taking of damaged ends, they are actually doing someting they were not asked. What is the point in saying to them I want a trim when they do what they want!! Do they not listen?? Is all that hair dye on their own heads damaging their hearing!! The customer is always right god dam it!! I'm so upset!! ------------- Nikki :) |

I'm sorry to hear that happened, any setback is so frustrating when you're trying to grow it! For future reference, its not a good idea to go in and ask for a "trim". That means something different to a stylist than it may to you. They are trained that the word trim means to remove any dry ends, or cut the hair to the healthiest point. And they are trained to spot exactly where dry ends may look like they start, which, even on undamaged hair, can look like the last inch or more just because the ends tend to thin and maybe get lighter there. If you choose to go back to a salon, don't use the word "trim" and instead tell them you want such and such amount taken off, and you can even show them on a ruler to make sure its fresh in their memory exactly how much that is. What a crappy experience, Nik! A real pro would have asked exactly what
you meant, but in the future, leave nothing to chance. Painful lesson
learned, hopefully. Stay away from salons if you are growing your hair.
Only allow those you KNOW you can trust to touch your hair with shears.

I'm sorry that happened even after you said half inch. I want to second
trying Feye's method. If your hair is not long enough now you can wait
until it is because if you do her method you get to decide how much
comes off and when. I've used it for over a year myself.

No different stylist is doing it!! Never going back to him again, he's done that twice now!!! My hair usually grows quite quick so hopefully it won't take long. It is shorter around the face than normal so that doesn't help either!!
