I used to buy these really clever hair pins. They looked like the curly metal part of a corkscrew (thinner metal though). You could twist your hair up, screw one of these into the bun (or other updo) and it would stay up, really firmly. Absolutely invaluable for ballet and great to have in your handbag to quickly put your hair up without millions of conventional pins. Does anyone remember them? Please help - just lost my last two!

I think they may have retailed under "hair screw" or "hair scru"

They are called "Hair Scroos". There doesn't seem to be an American vendor. I know a lady who has a connection to buy wholesale, but she's on another board. I could ask for you if you like.
