I colored my hair to orange about a week ago but already most of it has begun to become lighter. The only part that has stayed orange is the roots.

I'm guessing it's the bleach (and som saltwater) that has made the rest lighter. True?

The roots only had my own color under it so...

Its unclear what you've done.  Do you mean you had bleached hair, then dyed it purposely orange?  If so, bleached hair is porous and it has trouble holding on to dye.  You may want to go for semipermanents.  They damage hair less than permanent, and will wash out quickly, but if your hair is porous, permanent will wash out anyway.  Bleached hair does allow pigment depositing shampoos to hold better than natural hair though.  I used to change my hair color every week when I was growing out my bleached hair by changing my color of pigment depositing shampoo!
