What are the pros and cons of having 1. Relaxed hair, 2. Texturized hair, and 3. Natural hair??

I am relaxed right now and have gained alot of newgrowth on the Grow-Out Challenge, but in the future I was considering transitioning to texturized or natural. I just wanted to see where everyone else stands on it.

The pros for me of having relaxed hair are that it doesn't hurt to comb my hair. I'm extremely tenderheaded and I hated getting my hair combed that's why I relaxed it. I'm thinking about transitioning like you. l loved my natural hair and thought it was pretty and stuff I just was tired of the pain but hopefully since I've been reading up on hair I can take care of my natural hair myself and not have a lot of pain.
The cons of relaxed hair are not being able to have beautiful braided styles, breakage, split ends, missing my natural hair.

I am transitioning and I have decided for me there are no pros to perming my natural hair, and I wont perm again, but to each his own.

Of course I don't see the cons to having natural hair either because it is what God gave us. It's a learning process, I have learned that I cannot comb through my natural hair while it is dry, but I have learned how to comb it and style without excessive shedding.

Some of the pros to natural hair, you can swim, get caught in the rain and sweat from working out and you don't have to worry about it. Natural hair takes time and effort just like permed hair, so whatever you decide just continue doing the things you have done to maintain the healthest hair possible.

I have relaxed hair:

PROS = easier to manage, smoother/softer, shinier, doesn't require the use of a lot of products (in my opinion), the chemicals don't burn (since I've used Hawaiian Silky)

CONS = new growth gets really thick and that part gets hard to comb or stay straight (fresh), touch-ups (too much heat used, i.e. blowdryer, curling iron), some breakage right after touch-up (not very excessive)

im natural

PROS: easier to manage. easy to comb, very soft, its natural, no need to use a lot of products, i can do any style i want to, hair is less or not damaged so it grows out healthy. i dont have to get in the shower to wash so i can avoid tangled hair. i just bend over the tub or sink and do my thing

CONS: umm...i dont have any right now

when i was relaxed

PROS: umm...lets see err...i cant think of any right now. oh yeah, its easy to see new growth so i can relax it at the right time so i dont over lap

CONS: burning from relaxing, not having no choice but to relax when new growth becomes unmanageable, having to use lots of products for certain uses i.e. moisture, protein, relaxing bla bla bla, damaged hair

these are what i experienced...

I can't really give a lot of pro's and con's but I just know my hair has been so much healthier since becoming natural and not to mention my length seemed to almost double....but not quite double. It is much easier to be natural to me.  I can wear my hair straight or curly so you will have more styling options.  I personally would never relax again because I've had wayyyy more pro's with natural hair.

Relaxed hair

---Too Much Work-Have to blend 2 textures together to give an illusion that you grow straight hair.

----Fear-- If you fear your natural texture you can't do anything such as swimming or sweating because you got to keep the look uniform. (does not include everyone, just those who fear)

---Repair--- For everything you do to your relaxed hair you have to purchase a product to fix it... conditioners/shampoos for damaged hair, etc.

---Taking chances--- You may or may not get burned this time. You may or may not over process or under process this time.

Natural hair

---Don't take chances on health risk such as scalp burns.

--- You CAN have less products, unless you just like alot of products, but it won't be for the same reason.

----No fear to hide 2 extremely different textures...you can wash, sweat as much as you like.

--Can be alot of work if you don't have the right tools or dont do it properly, but can also be as simple as washing and pushing back and going.

I'm transitioning to natural:

Pros: I dont have to worry about the potential negative side affects caused by chemicals, i.e. scalp burns, hair loss, slow growth etc..

Pros: My hair tends to grow faster without chemicals.

Relaxed hair:

Pros: Easier to manage

Cons: There's always risk involved when you use chemicals on your hair.

Hmmm, so mostly pros for natural hair. I can see why. As I said, I am relaxed now. I guess the pros would be less tangles, soft, manageable, and shiny. The cons, from my own experience would be breakage and shedding, which I guess can happen with any type of hair regardless. Anyone texturized???
