It's like a children's book for extensionists...my first heat seal.  Anyway, I decided to try out my new heat wand, and after a few tries, actually got a decent heat seal.  For me, the hardest part was keeping the braid tight, so it didn't slide further and further from my head as I wrapped it.  I did two streaks (one on each side) of a mixture of plastikhaar mahaghoni and blut rot.  The first one is a little long, but otherwise good.  The second one is a little too fat.

I think I could probably do streaks in the front of my hair fairly easily, but trying to do the back (or more than ten in a day) would drive me crazy!

Here's a pic of the first one (which I think is the better of the two):

Now, here it is next to one by Boogiemama.  You can see that mine is almost twice as long (oops):

And here's me (don't mind the scary blured-out face) with my two new peek-a-boo red streaks.  I can't be too wild because of work...boo.  Sorry the picture is so yellow.  My camera can't white-balance the weird lighting in my bathroom.

They will get faster, It took like an hour a row when I started my whole head, but by the end It took like 2 minutes a seal.

@mochachip:you managed to do a full installation by yourself? Also at the back? Didn`t you end up with heavy arms?  I always thought it is not possible to use this method as a Dyi-er...
@leia: are you planning to do your full head?

I had plenty of assistance.  totally non professional, somewhat clumsy, very patient assistance, and yes I thought my arms would never recover.

MmeduKrue, nope I am strictly a highlights DIY extensionist.

Oh, and I took out the one that was too fat.  It happened to be on the same side of my head as my part, and it was occasionally visible.  I still have the skinnier one, and this was a great learning experience.
