Hi

I recently had the IHR Bio Ionic hair straightening done again but the results are no where near to the first time.

My hair has been left dry, frizzy and not very straight, which means I am having to take ages straightening it. I just can't imagine coping with this until my hair grows out and the straightners will only make it drier over time

I was wondering if there is any other treatment I can have done which will improve the condition of my hair? Maybe a different straightening treatment that won't clash with the chemicals already used.

Has anyone else had this problem and maybe tried another treatment which has worked? I have read about the Yuko system but not sure if I can have this done aswell?

Would really appreciate and welcome any advice as this is stressing me out ....thanks

That's sad.

I was actually really considering getting the Bio Ionic hair straightening system done to my hair but I wanted to hear from people who have had it for a while.

Don't they claim that it's actually good for your hair?

Why don't you talk to the salon who did it for you?

Especially if it produced the wrong result. Good luck and let us know how you went.

Well when I actually had it done a couple of years ago for the first time the results were amazing. My hair was poker straight, shiny and looked fab all the time. Well until it grew out!

I went back to the same salon and had the straightening done with the same stylist again. However this time the results were no where near.. I went back a couple of weeks after but she didn't seem too concerned or of much help.

I wouldn't let this put you off as it was the best thing i could have done the first time round. Its unfortunate that it didn't work out this time

Wish you all the best with urs.....

sounds to me like your hair is overprocessed and damaged. You need to deep condition the hair daily to put the moisture back into the hair that has been stripped out of it by the chemical process.

I would strongly recommend against doing any other chemical process to your hair such as color, perm, relaxer, straightening, etc for several months as that hair just sounds badly damaged. If you did another chemical process breakage could occur in the hair and it could be severe at or near the scalp.

If you blow dry your hair possibly dry it to a damp state where it's 80% dry but still slightly damp to touch so you don't dry out the hair more. Stay away from curling irons, flat irons as much as possible and deep condition and put in leave in conditioner into you hair.

This is something you will need to do to your hair until it grows out. You can't cure the damamge you can only make it managable for yourself.

Look for gently shampoos stay way from anything with ammonium in it as it's more rough on the hair. Pantene is JUNK! So is Thermasilk...don't use them and stay away from hair products with Panthenol in them as the Panthenol is used to open up cuticle layer and swell the hairshaft to make the hair appear thicker and fuller. With your overprocessed hair this could lead to more tangles in the hair and lead to further damage.

G'luck

Definately stay FAR FAR away from that stylist next time. Ideally they're supposed to fix it for free! Actually, I'd say u have a right to free deep conditioning treatment from the salon. It's not ur fault this happened to ur, but i'm pretty sure that the straightening system wasn't faulty either, it was probably something ur stylists did wrong. However, did u have any bleaching or prev. heavy chemical treatment in the hair?

Also, shop around for a deep conditioner w/ silicones in it.

Thanks for the advice guys, really appreciate it

I'll continue with the deep conditioning and double check the contents of my current shampoo and conditioner.

Thanks again...

I feel your pain, I had Bioionic TR done to my hair 2 years ago. At the beginning I couln't be happier. However withing 2 months my hair started to break and fall off IN BIG CLUMPS!. Every time I comed or brushed my hair, my bathroom floor looked like a rug. One time my mother walked in on me, and she was horrified when she looked at the floor. I was so embarrased. It took my hair two years to recover from that nightmare. I wish I had never done it. It can be pretty traumatic. Thanks God is over. I went back to my Rusk radical anticurl, wich gives me much better results and none of the damage. To help your hair, do lots of protein treatments. Go to Verticalsinhair.com. The site is hosted by the #1 TR expert in North America. You can get great advice and find tons of infor about TR. Also a hair regimen for hair that has been TR. You can even post your problem and get the best advice for your particular situation. Had this site been around when I was reseaching TR, That horrible nightmare would've never happened to me. O well you live and you learn I guess. I feel for you girl, I've been there. One shampoo that helped me stop the loss was the chinesse herbal shampoo from Lamasbeauty.com. Is all natural, no sulfactants. Don't forget the protein treatments and to deep condition after protein treatments. A great protein treatment is Sebastian 2+1. It is very expensive, but try ebay. I got a $50 bottle for $28 including shipping. Redken extreme deep fuel is also very good. That will help buffer the damage and prevent breakage while you grow your hair out.

Good luck and keep us posted!

thanks so much for the advice...i can't imagine what you must have gone through, especially with the breakage :(

its the thought of growing my hair out for the next 2 years that's totally depressing me out   the things we do for silky straight hair! i just hope it grows out super fast cos its getting dryer by the day

someone else also reccomended the redken extreme shampoo and deep fuel so will definatly try them out.

thanks again, i'll post my topic on the the website you suggested and see if i can get anymore valuable advice.

Oh, breakage was not the worst part. It was the bald spot on my frontal hairline that resulted from the breakage that was hard to deal with. But hey, look at it on the bright side, eventhough your hair is dry, if you are not experiencing breakage, then is not that bad. The protein treatments and deep conditioners should take care of the dryness and keep your hair from breaking. A good trim should also make a difference. So don't loose hope and deft. don't get depressed. Redken butter treat works great on TR hair, and Redken all soft addictive hair transformer, used as a leave in treatment works magic. Try it and you'll see. It will make your hair much better. At least until you grow it out. Anyway hope everything works out well, and that your hair doesn't start breaking. Good luck.

That must have been awful :( i'm getting quite alot of breakage but its mainly at the bottom, as for split ends there just everywhere!

however, at least there are products to help with the dryness and split ends so i'll just have 2 see it through.  i guess i should be grateful as it could have been alot worse, especially hearing about your experience.

thanks for the info on the other redken products, think i'll stock up this weekend.....

xXx
