To grow out curly hair.

I'm a guy and my hair comes to about just past my eyebrows. I saw this kid come in to my job the other day with long almost shoulder length red locks, I was like, THAT IS MY HAIR TEXTURE AND SO I AM GETTING THAT STYLE!!!
But I have been growing out my hair now since April 22nd, (my prom day last year is when I got it cut last.) and It is now pushing September and my hair is not moving very fast. This kids hair covered his ears and kinda swept forward a bit, I wish I could take a picture but it was awesome. If I brush my hair, right after I get out of the shower it will go like that and not into tight curls like it does whenever I fluff it up, like it does the first pic. The other two are the length Im at right now. My hair is a bit longer than this now, but not by much. This is the type of hair I'm tlaking about in the pic below (its the harry potter kid) This kids hair looks almost identical to this, except he doesn't have his bangs cut. ACCCKKK Im going to get that hair.

kinda a hinder that you have tighter curls, but remember, as your hair gets longer, the weight will also pull the hair straighter (not at the ends though)

Yeah it's going to take you a while. One of my best guy mates is in the exact same situation and its taking him forever. The trick is to do loads of fun stuff with it whle its growing to take your mind off the length, for example coloured gel. I've had loads of fun with that stuff Also, if you leave it curly like in the first pic for like a month or as long as possible then brush it out after that, you'll be amazed how much its grown without you even noticing! That's what worked with me anyways, I let it go wavy over the summer holidays then when I eventually straightned it I was like wow I have long hair!!! Good luck with the style.

speaking of taking forever, went for a haircut today, hair dressed took off over 1" across the side of my head where i was trying to grow my hair on a downward angle (short at ear, long bangs in front)

i do not like that it happened
