i have orange/red hair its not bright...but now i wanna dye it light brown...is there any way i could do this at home?

what colour dye would i have to use to make it light brown?

If i dyed it blonde...would it come out orange?

You could go either way.

If you want to go blonde you'll need to bleach your hair again, and then use a toner to get the right blonde shade.

If you want to dye your hair brown I'd suggest using a neutral base light brown dye like Wella Colorcharm *511 light brown with 20 volume developer.

The most important thing is that you go to a beauty supply or order professional products, cause OTC products ain't that great :P

If you bleach your hair blonde, you'll have to bleach it really light to get the red out, and tone or dye it the shade you want from there.  If you don't want the brown to turn out reddish, you'd probably have to use a dye with a blue base (because blue is the opposite of orange on the wheel) to help cancel it out.  Definitely you'd have to go to a beauty supply to see the base, because drugstore dyes don't tell you :-P .
