anyone else out there growing there hair out and
have hit the "oh my gosh what a mess" stage? I dont heat style, which is a pain, because it would look ALOT
better if I did,,,but,,I want long hair and want it healthy when its finally long. So, air dry, yuck, when
its this length (about 5 1/2 in layers) is terrible.I can get sponge rollers in,just barely, but the curl
doesnt hold, since I dont use products(another no no
for healthy hair) Im just tired of looking plain! Ive always styled with this length. Once it hits the half up
stage , I think it will be ok! Just wanted to vent! :)
thanks,
D.

Surely you can do some moderate styling, cool blowdrying.  And how do products like mousse damage hair?

I guess as long as its alchohol free products, but
Id really like to get away from using them a whole lot.
Like hairspray . Guess I could use some other stuff.we shall see.

Accessories, accessories, accessories.  If you buy "safe" barrettes or the hot new silk headbands or bandeaus you can instantly change your look.  Hair accessories do not have to be expensive and they can instantly change a look.  I would have gone nuts years ago if I didn't have my "hair toys" to play with and transform my hair from just plain old long.

Also...try aloe vera gel to set your damp strands on old fashioned or Conair rag rollers for glorious waves and curls.  Or apply aloe vera, which is just fine for healthy hair to wet strands and then braid before you go to sleep.  In the morning...lovely waves.

My wife blow dries all the time in the cold weather. If you are careful, there should be no damage. Use a lower setting, and finger comb while drying. It always emeges silky and beautiful after it's blow-dried. It's not for everyone, but if you're at wit's end, give it a shot. Good luck!  Bob

Thanks Karen and Bob,
Its a little hard to braid layers that are as short as
mine, but when it gets longer I will
Maybee Im being a little extreme with the blowdry thing, but,,,I want beautiful long hair when it gets there! My hair feels real soft at this point and hate to
mess it up. It has alot of silver too, and silver and too much blow drying doesnt mix. Guess Im just at a frustrating point in my hair growing. Ill just keep pluggin along! This time next yr Ill be well on my way
to doing updos! Thanks again!
Note to self:Get some Alo Vera
Deb

Hi Deb,

Bob is correct.  Cold air flow is actually OK.  As far as the layers...get teeny tiny little clips and design something fun.  :-)

Have a safe & happy Labor Day.
