Hiya I'm Joanne from the UK  Glad to have found this fantastic site.. I'm  another newbie looking for advice..  So here goes

Over the last few years I have had individual glued in type extensions, unfortunately this method ruined my hair, I guess a along with using ghd straighteners it hasn't helped my hair. My hair is now very frizzy and fragile & broken ..

A few weeks ago I decided to try the sewn in wefts in order to give my own hair a rest, An African lady put this in for me and I was really pleased with the end result,and also the fact I only needed to straighten what was left of my own hair on the top. I used expensive European human hair.. Unfortunately to my disbelief when I washed and conditioned it the second time it turned to a mass of Matt , it took me around an hour or more to get the mass out, I ended up totally frustrated and upset..I did all the usual stuff before washing  it (combing out any tangles ect) I had to get the wefts takenback out never even had them in a month , a total waste of £250.00 Can anyone tell me where I went wrong??does this always happen with sewn in wefts? any advice greatly appreciated

The hair was simply 'bad' hair.  That's the problem with human hair, it's inconsistant in quality.

I think you did not get what you paid for.  For the money you paid, you should have received hair where all the cuticles are alligned in a dowardward position, as they would be growing out of your head.  Because the hair matted up so quickly, I would guess that this hair is not 'cuticle hair' (or some call it 'remi' hair) and most certainly not European hair!

The fact that it was applied as a weave is not relevant.  This hair would have matted no matter what the application method was.

I would call the lady and tell her what happened.  If she is a good, professional extensionist, she will stand behind her products and provide you new hair, at no charge.

I did wonder about the hair itself ! I was told it was a better quality than the hair I originally picked ,  It was also more expensive .

I never had any problems with matting when the other different applications were used, basically I thought never this type of method again!!  thanks for restoring my faith ,I will have a word with the extensionist
