Yup, instead of just doing family and friends hair, i've decided to make it official, sort out insurance, suppliers, and advertising!

Should i start off mobile and rent a chair at a later date if i decide i want to or rent a chair first and go mobile when i have built up clientelle???

I was also thinking about 'going 'mobile', but it presents a lot of difficulties.

I have so many supplies that I use to do extensions (because I do about 5 different methods) it would be impossible to carry them around with me, in addition to all my cutting and styling tools.  Also, most of my extension clients are color clients as well, so I can't carry around 70 tubes of color and 6 bottles of peroxide very well either!

Another problem, would be having a styling chair that will be adjustable to the right height as you work.

And lastly, I like being in the salon because it's a controlled environment, meaning my work will not be disturbed by the client's screaming kids, or phone calls.  When you go to client's homes, your on their turf, and they will control how you work.  If your client is interupted a lot at home by kids, phone, etc, than you will be performing extensions at a very slow pace.

Now, I'm sure being mobile works for some people, but it just presents so many more challenges that to me it doesn't seem like it is worth it.

Leelou,

So how do you carry around all your tools?  And when you process you colors, there's no dryer to put them under to accelerate the process, so doesn't that take forever?

Also, how do you get around being interrupted at the client's home by their family?

I would consider doing this if I thought it would work.

I'd love to hear more about how you overcome those obstacles.

Thanks!

I am one of Leanne's clients and the colour that she uses to get my black/brown hair blonde doesn't require heat and it takes around 40 minutes, hope that helps xx I don't have kids so I can't comment on that xx
