Question is I ended up with Carotene Bond Hair Extensions.  The stylist who did it did a very bad job and I hated them.  My question is she told me that the only way to get the extensions out was with PURE ACETONE???  Does anyone know if that is true, and another question is now my hair is falling out by the roots.   I had went and seen a doctor, and he told me that I had Second Degree Hair Loss.  Is this suppose to happen, and does anyone know if my hair will grow back since it is falling out by the ROOTS of my hair?  And will I ever beable to grow hair back?

GAH, do NOT soak your head in the acetone.  what you do is use a couple of drops on the bond itself, then crush it with pliers.

The thing is after the 3rd day of having the extensions, I ended up with little red sores all over my head where the extensions were.  My boyfriend, his mother and my mother all took the hair extensions out.  So they have been out for a month, and I am still loosing alot of hair.  My hair is falling out with the little white bulbs on the ends and my boyfriend said that that's not good.  I guess when the roots and the bulbs come out you have a hard time growing hair.  So I told the stylist this and she told me that i didnt take care of my hair right.  So can anyone tell me if I can take her to court for the secondary hair loss , or what?  Thanks

bad installs happen.  sometimes its the stylest's fault, sometimes its the clients, sometimes things for whatever reason, just dont work out.

Sueing over every little bump in the road called life is not the anwser.

But if your hair was falling out you wouldnt do anything about it then?  I mean I paid a lot of money for those extensions, and didnt recieve any money back.  She wanted to charge me to fix them, and now my hair is falling out in clumps... and your telling me that this is really nothing to worry about???  Im sorry but I dont see it that way.  She did it on another client who I happen to know and her extensions are not even staying in her hair.  And she wants to charge her also!!  This stylist has NO TRAINING IN HAIR EXTENSIONS!!!!!  And now I have bald spots in my hair...  Im sorry but Im not just going to let this go.

You could try to sue her if you like, but you may have a hard time proving that your on going hair loss was caused by the extensions. 

 Once the extensions are out, you should not be experiencing anymore hairloss from the tension.  Since you still have hairloss issues, I think something else is going on, such as high stress levels (can make hair fall out), genetic hairloss, illness, thyroid problems, hormone problems, etc.

Ok but I talked to a Hair Instuctor here, and she said that since the extensions were so close to my scalp, that the acetone burnt my hair folicles.   I had a thyroid test done and that came back normal.  The only thing that I am stressed about is my hair.  Wouldn't any of you be?  No one in my family started loosing big clumps of hair.  It's not a genetic thing.  And I talked to a dermatologist, and my doctor, and they said that if it was stress related I wouldnt be loosing clumps of hair... it would be little at a time.  Another thing is is that I talked with one of the best stylist in the world who works and the Aveda.  He said that most likely the acetone burnt my hair folicles out, and that stress is not a factor in my case.

i am so sorry this is happening to you.

I would suggust using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and their Bio nutrient treatment. some salons and good beauty supplys carry this and they usually have a kit for about $40-

this will help your hair to start growing back and hopefully help to lessen the loss. I would be devastated if my hair started comming out in clumps too.

so your boyfriends mother did your extensions? Do i have that part clear? If so is she the one you are wanting to sue?

What does your b/f think about that?

Do u have before and after pictures?

In my professional opinion, i dont think acetone can burn the root, unless your hair was soaked in it and never washed out. I may be wrong, i do take out alot of glue from clients with either alcohol, orange oil and some times acetone. Someone who is more familiar with acetone might be able to jump in here about that.

Seeing the extensions were in for only three days, and then removed, i am not sure why your hair. could it be that when they removed the glue and extension hair, they didnt totally get all the glue out, and what is left is being brushed or combed or pulled out with your own hair?

far as money paid- i would go to the salon owner as ask her to help you get your money back and have then also purchase the Nioxin kit for you.

Wow, inkedgirl, I'm sorry about what's happening to your hair  That must be rough.

I've never heard of acetone burning your follicles, though?? I'm sure it's not great for your hair, but I've rubbed it straight into my scalp pretty much, for a couple of hours at a time, to get out stubborn Liquid Gold. Again, probably not great for your hair, and I'm no chemist, but it's not guaranteed to cause damage. I know Sherrie on the board here regularly uses it, too.

Now are you saying you SOAKED your head in a bowl of acetone or that is what she wanted to do?  How did you finally get the hair out?

I just cant see how 3 days of extensions could do that much damage no matter how close to the head they were or how tight they were put in.

Isn't it kinda of hard to sue hairdressers?

I feel for you I would be a wreck if that happened to me.

In my many years of experiences, when clients decide to remove their own hair extensions and they have done so carelessly or impatiently- as a result caused major damaged by their UNTRAINED AND UNEXPERIENCED HANDS!!!  Then they put the blame on me when I told them in the first place that their extensions must be removed by ME!!!

What sucks with clients is that they leave your salon happy, then God only knows what they do to their hair when they get home.  When they f*<k up their hair, we as hairdressers get blamed.

You must never mess with your hair.  You are not trained in the skills.  You must have the person who installed them for you, remove them.  If they won't then you sue.  And b/c hair extensions are costly to begin with, it's normal for people to do EXTENSIVE RESEARCH on them in the first place.

A well-skilled hair extensionist who's also educated in hair loss, will not sell you fashion hair.  I can tell if one is a candidate for hair extensions or a candidate for hair loss in my thorough 60-90 minute consultation.
