hi there,
I need to some help please,,my friend sat last night for 3 hours, and got about a 1/4 of them out,, we used acetone, and it was really slow,,the bonds were very tight, and hard to get off,,
and NO I cant go back to the person who put them in, as I had them done in South Africa when I was visiting,,
anyone have any ideas to do this faster,, as I have until Friday to get them all out, as I am having them redone by Boogiemama,,
help please,, and thank you all for this wonderful site,, I would not have found Boogiemama, and be stuck with getting GL the rest of my life,,
thank you

Unfortunatly it is a slow process.  YOu don't want to speed thru it or you will damage your hair.  Use the acetone and flat pliers to crush the bond.  You could also try soaking the scalp and bonds with olive oil or a deep conditioner to help soften them.  When you go to comb the residue out, make sure to drench your hair in conditioner and go SLOW!!!  This is where people usually get sick of the whole process and try to hurry it.  YOu need to go slow and not pull on the hair, just comb out the resuide and the shedded hair.  I would think that Amm's oil remover would also work good at this phase of the removal.

Just remember, go slow, and don't pull!!!

Good luck!!

For GL use ever clear, Yes the kind you drink. Accetone dose not work well on GL bonds I found out the hard way! Any 150 proof alchoal will work.

thank you girls for the help,, i will let you know if STROH works,, at $25 a bottle, it had better work,,

I just want to know who thought of this trick. It's brilliant, but who would think?? hey Everclear for hair extensions!

ok, so we sat for 2 hours tonight,, the STROH melted the bonds,, while we drank the liquor,, it was so much easier than acetone,, yippee, they are all gone,, and i did not pull my own hair out,,in fact my hair is the longest it has been in my life,,
so alcohol is much better to use,, good point to note,, thank you for your suggestions,,it saved us tons of time

12 years ago or so I had a new client from Italy who had them in. I had never heard of GL and thought it  was just fusion and tryed the accetone. Hours and hours later calling every hair store around trying to figure out why they would not come out!!! I did get them out but it took forever. It wasn't untill this board awhile back that I learned about everclear and GL. This board is a life saver as you just found out. I'm glad it went well for you

For the left over I wonder of the ornge oil like ama's would work. I would try a little olive oil on one of the bonds and see if that moves the rest off.

i am going to wash it with tons of conditioner this morning and see what happens,, i cant wait for amm's oil to get here,,
i have to get my hair high lighted before i go to boogiemamas, and want to do that early in the week,, to give my hair a break,, before i get more extensions in on friday,,
i see that hairdressers here have been doing this for ever,, and i onlky heard about extensions less than a year ago,, i thought i was doomed to have short thin hair for the rest of my life,, these EX saved me,,gave me a whole new look,, i will ask Briget to take before and after photos on friday,, so that you can see what a difference it makes,,

A cheaper (WAY) cheaper alternative to this, and the main ingredient in GL's own remover, is ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL. Available at drug stores, about $2 for 12 oz.

you can get rubbing alcohol in a few different percentages. Id go with the higher 'proof' alcohol. I think its either 91% or 92%
