Where can I find pictures of different hair textures.  I can not figure out what my hair texture is.  Sorry I do not have pics, but it seems to be either 3c or 4a.  Not sure.  PLEASE help me find some pics.

Thanks Pokahontas and CookiesnKream.  That link is really useful.  It a pity I can't convince my sisters that as a type 4 hair, my hair is probably more fragile than theirs (they are 3's and maybe a 3/4 ).  They are still convinced my thick hair means more durable...oh well.

No problem.  So did you figure out your hair type?  You are right, thick hair does not mean more durable.  That is very un-true.  Thick type 4 hair can be very fine even though it does not appear to be and yes very fragile.

My hair is different from my sister and a mix between 4a/b Only one hair stylist has ever looked at my hair and accessed it correctly.  He would only use regular relaxers on me in the past because he could see my hair was dense but the strands were thin.  Others prior to him felt they had to use super and described my hair as n**** hair (not very nice) and my hair suffered through their miscalculation and if I'm honest my own.  I've stopped the relaxers for now because I really don't believe too many stylist know how to treat our hair (combing through a relaxer on the hairline????) and I need to give it a break. Don't get me wrong its thick and tight and a texture I have to get use to again but compared to the weak breakage that I was experiencing before...I now appreciate what I have on my head and I'm loving the fact that my hair line is growing again without too many harsh chemicals and heat!

thats good UK,, i had problems with breakage
along the hairline too,, myhair would just stand up
straight and look like static becuz i had all these fine
split off strands there so I would SHAVE my hairline
LOL!!! and man that mustve looked so so funny,, i
stoped that about 2 years ago and i now realize that
my hairline and some of those "baby hairs" were
supposed to be full length hairs and they are now.... i
shudder to think about how i looked with that shaven
area in the center of my hairline,,

Good for you!  You may be interested in visiting Nappturality.com.  It's a great forum for naturals or transitioners.  I have learned a lot there as well as here.
