hi, i use gel nearly everyday. i dont think it would do any harm to your hair if you used the right gel. it has to be non-drying as in, no alcohol. i use fantasia IC gel, herbal essences humidity defying gel (rarely use cos of ingredients) and fruit of the earth aloe vera gel. im guessing the safest could be the FOTE gel. some people also use flaxseed gel but ive never tried it

i use it to style my hair. like bantu knots. i always make sure i use the gel after i apply leave in and moisturiser. you can also try this style if your hair is long enough http://www.missjessies.com/shingling101.htm - Shingling . I used fantasia IC gel and my hair came out like that but my hair wasnt long enough so i looked like a crazy person

You can do anything you want with your hair, after the gel is put on. If you want to style it, that is fine as well.

I use gel all the time to style with.  I use Fantasia IC or Fruit of the Earth aloe vera gel.

I use FOTE gel for styling, but only if I'm wearing a bun or ponytail. After applying my moisturizers, etc I use a little to "slick" my hair back into a ponytail/bun and tie it down w/ a satin scarf and my hair comes out nice and smooth.

I co-sign on the FOTE once. it is awesome. im starting to use a lot of gels lately like aussie water+gel, aussie tizz no frizz gel, herbal essences humidity defying gel and sometimes mousse. have you tried mousse? i found a non-alcohol mousse in sally's called aura lemongrass mousse
