After seeing all of your photos I want to try the shrinkie method. I'm African American and I'm not sure how abrasive the bonding agent would be on my hair. The only bond I would need is what is inside the shrinkie correct. And removal is a big thing. Using acetone in my very fragile hair seems harsh. Are their any other safer removal methods. Lastly could I just cut wefted hair and insert it into the shrinkie with out it being pre-tipped? Tell me what do you or anyone else on the board do for a firm hold and easy removal.  Thanks Ladies

You will want to use pretipped hair (I think amm might still have some) or tip your own.  All you will need to remove is the citris remover from her site. http://shrinkies.net - http://shrinkies.net

I would not recommend using bulk hair or straight off the weft b/c you will have a lot of shedding and you will not be able to reuse the hair.

I have to say, I've never installed nor seen or received feedback on shrinkies in anything but caucasion hair. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone whose done it so I can know how it went.

The residue left by the shrinkie does not need acetone for clean up. You use a heat wand to remove it and then a little orange solvent for remaining residue. (Never use pure orange oil). Install is like fusion in that you heat in on the hair but removal is nothing like fusion bonds.

I've tried bulk hair and did not like it one bit. Install was longer and there was hair sticking out the top of the shrinkie.

I have installed shrink links on one of my clients, an African American lady.  Her natural hair  was chemically relaxed, and we got the extension hair for her in a yaki texture.

There was no difference between that install and an install on one of my caucasian clients.  It worked beautifully.

Thanks LauraR, Amm and Metalgirl.

Metalgirl,

Was the removal just as easy as the install? Did you use Amm's citrus remover for the AA client?
