I used Light Golden Brown on my hair and it turned a dark copper.  I previously had salon highlights and was ready to go back to all brown.  My question is:  Can I use Natural Instincts Light or Medium Ash Brown to correct this?  Thanks!

first of all, I am a hairdresser and have been for 20 years.  Let me tell you that color will NOT lift color, so please don't put any more color on your hair.  You will need to see a stylist and let them do a bleach cap (bleach, developer, shampoo and conditioner) and leave it on until the dark copper turns a light red.  Then have them put on the level brown you would like.  Good luck!

I had the same problem when I colored my hair last week.  I called the natural instincts telephone # that is on the side of the box and the rep there told me what to do to get the color I want and get rid of so much red.  It worked perfectly and I am very happy with how they helped me.  So, you might want to try that!!

Thank you!  Did you use another "natural instincts" to correct it?  I'm gonna call tomorrow  :)

I did use another natural instincts to correct it.  I had to mix it with shampoo and use only small amounts etc and it worked super!!

Did you call?  What did they tell you to do and how did it turn out?

I called today and wrote out lengthy instructions on using a permanent light red (?) with no developer and then a permanent light brown mixed with developer and shampoo... to correct it.  It got too complicated and I thought, if I have to use permanent, I'm going to a salon.  I will live with this hair until it fades and then go to a salon.  She told me if I used another semipermanent ash brown that I'd turn my hair green!  I'll NEVER touch my color again.

Thats odd!  the rep I talked to told me not to mix the semi with perm.  Call back tomorrow and speak to another rep and tell them you want to stay with the semi.

I used the light golden brown (#11) and it was more red than I wanted...so that rep told me to get suede which is a neutral brown (#13) and mix it 1oz color (suede) 1 oz developer and 1 oz shampoo...do an all over application and leave it on for 20 mins, then rinse and condition.

It worked like a charm.  Maybe you just got a bad representative to help you....I hate that for you too!!  But do try again tomorrow!!

I've had that experience with their help line. I've gotten two different answers for the same solution. Trust your instincts. If they sound like they know what they're talking about and not 'unsure' about the problem and solution....I would go with that. Try calling 3 times and tell the third person what the first 2 said.

I agree with you Kelly!  When I called, I spoke to a guy...at first was skeptical, but I asked him a ton of questions and he knew what he was talking about so I felt comfortable following what he was telling me to do.  I asked questions that I already knew the answers to so I could check him out! LOL
