Okay so i'm really excited about making posts if you can't already tell. Anyway, I was wondering if it was normal for surge to cause huge patches of dead skin. I remember people making a big deal about how wonderful surge was for growth. Stupid me, I bought some of this mess and put it on my hair. And do you know what happened to me? My hair looked like a flaky pie crust! Fearing that surge would actually cause me to lose hair, I stopped using it and cursed myself for wasting money. Could someone tell me if I acted too quickly? Does surge cause dead skin and then growth, or did I just have a freaky reaction to it?

I am using Surge too for the first time...  I have used it 2 days in a row now and have not experienced anything unusual...  No breakage or dry spots...  The only thing I did notice was a tingle almost burning sensation after I put it on for the first time - nothing the second time...  So maybe I should check my scalp  I plan to do a CO wash tonight, so I will check. I'll let you know if I see anything.

You know what, I used Surge in the past, too. I started to notice these dry, brown looking flakes falling when I combed my hair! They'd be all over the sink and my clothes! I stopped using if for a while and then read on another forum that ladies was mixing it or using oil b4 applying. What I started doing was applying a small amount of coconut oil to my scalp and then applying Surge. It never burned, caused hair loss or damaged my scalp, but I think the protein and applying it directly to my scalp was too much. I apply it now only to wet hair to detangle.

So does that mean that you got no growth just a scalp reaction?

Wow I haven't felt(tingling) or saw(flakes) anything unusual. I've been using Surge 14 for about 1 1/2 mos. I've notice maybe 1/2 of new growth. I guess it depends on the person and their tolerance of protein.

if surge has protein in it, does that mean that it works like a reconstructor and stops breakage?

Actually, I did experience some growth. Don't ask me how much because I never "measure", but I could tell in the length after I relaxed. I wouldn't say a scalp reaction in a negative way because it didnt cause any harm, i.e., hair loss, breakage, etc. Once I applied the oil along w/ the Surge it was fine. I think the direct protein may have been too much. Keep in mind it states for best results to use 2X per day--and also everyone reacts differently to products. Also, it did stop any breakage I had immediately. I still use it at times on my scalp, but mainly for detangling on my hair after washes.
