Why would you want to do that?

Some seriously strong wax or gel, most likely wax.

Is Garnier Fructis any good as a brand? I've wanted to try them since there are always adds in the paper. Not to mention their products stand out like crazy!

Make sure your hair is really thick if you do that!  I know my fine, thin hair would be showing scalp all over the place if I tried to make it stand out like that :-( .

More awesome than a manatee!

got2b makes products specifically for that look.  In fact they even have blue spiking glue which is their strongest holding product and it makes your hair temporarily blue.  So if you want the look above check out:

Other things to consider as Kuroneko mentioned:

1. You must start with the right hair cut.  If your hair isn't first cut in such a way that it will easily spike, it will flop down.  The got2b spiking glue will work on 95% of hair but if the cut is wrong, the glue will give you odd spikes.

2.  Make sure your hair is at least medium thick to thick.  If it is fine or thin, you woull definitely be showing scalp.

3.  Take photos to your stylist and ask them to cut your hair so that you can spike it like above.

Garnier Fructis Fibre Gum Putty will hold but only about 50% as strong as the got2b spiking products.   You can check out the got2b cement at: http://mp.hairboutique.com/product.asp?ProdID=106469&CtgID - http://mp.hairboutique.com/product.asp?ProdID=106469&Ctg ID =

You can reinforce your hold with strong hair spray.

My BF had a hawk with spikes but he had to work at it.  he tried lots of products, including the Garnier, but had the best of luck with got2B and the right cut.  His stylist did lots of layers and used a razor.

Good luck.
