Hi,
My name is Bridgette and I am new here. I have never had hair extensions before. I have been lurking for the last two weeks digging through all the wonderful information that you guys share here. Well I never knew this subject could be so deep and complex…my head is still reeling with all the information. Before I found you guys, I was thinking…buy some hair, attach it to your head…simple…LOL
My interest in extensions is due to an incident that happened two weeks ago today & I have hardly left the house since because of my hair. Before the incident, my hair was mid to lower back in length, cut in long layers, shorter in front and longer in back. I stopped by a local shop just on a whim to get my bangs trimmed. I stressed repeatedly to the lady...."nothing off the length, bangs only". I even told her how some crazed-beautician had cut all my hair off at my shoulder 3 years ago, when I had stopped by only to get my bangs trimmed and that I did not want to go through that ordeal again...she assured me that she would only trim my bangs and would “NEVER do anyone that way.” As she was combing out my hair after shampooing, she stated that my length in the back was a little longer on one side than the other and asked if she could even it up just a little. I replied “No, that’s OK.” She kept insisting stating that she did not want me to think she had left the unevenness in length. I told her since she was only cutting my bangs she would not be to blame especially for something I did not notice. So finally I agreed to let her even up the back only a little. I had already stressed over and over to her that I liked my natural style and liked my length and wanted to keep both. Well she did the same thing to my hair as the other lady did three years ago...cutting all my hair off to just past my shoulders in the back, barely touching my shoulders in the front and cut some more in the front at chin length. She kept my back to the mirror...many distractions...kids running around the shop. I had no idea she had cut it all off until she was done. She just chopped it off almost even in the back with the shortest layer. I was furious when she finished and turned me toward the mirror. I said nothing, just paid and left heartbroken. Her final words to me were, “See, you are such a cute girl you just needed a hairstyle.” I am thinking lady I had a hairstyle before you ruined it and my former hairstyle was nothing great but at least it was not from “1980 something”…she cut my hair just like hers : (
Well I have finally stopped mourning myself to death over my hair… well almost stopped, gosh I miss it so badly…it was kinda dry and gnarly but I liked it that way.LOL My depression over the loss of my hair has propelled me into a buying frenzy. I have ordered human hair, different types of synthetic hair, shrinkies, a wand, liquid gold, etc.
I noticed looking through the older post that someone has a bullie…me too. Miss Bissy she just turned 5 years old…love bullies. Here is her pic.

Here is a pic of my hair from last March, so it had grown even more since this picture was taken. The pic is blurry and I am a mess in it...had not been up long...total bed-head but it was the most recent I could find...gosh I still miss my hair : (

I am open to any advice.
Thanks,
Bridgette
My hair is fairly dark brown with reddish tones, slight wave. I really do not do anything to it except 2 or 3 times a year I slap-on some Natural Instincts in Clove (medium ash brown) to help tone down the red, I think the red tones make it look kinda dry. I use a blow dryer but never any curling irons or such.
