I have really long hair and would like to do something really fun like crimping my hair.  I am uncertain whether I should do little braids in my hair when it is just a little damp or use the crimping iron.  Also, I was wondering what else I could do with the hair to really make it dramatic.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

I think that using a crimping iron would be a whole lot easier and faster than braiding a bunch of little braids all over your head.

To make your hair dramatic, you could add some colorful highlights with extensions, either synthetic or human hair.

On the site http://www.haircandy.net - www.haircandy.net   they sell some cool, clip in high lights in fun colors.

I think it partly depends on how thick your hair is.  I can simulate a crimped look by putting my hair in about 8-10 braids with some slightly diluted spray gel.  My hair is long, but thin, and I find this to be much easier than a crimping iron.  It takes me maybe 20 minutes (I used to do this while watching TV before bed), then simply unbraid in the morning.

My other trick is to use either little plastic barrettes or small curlers at the ends of the braids to avoid straight ends (if your hair is thin enough at the end of each braid, just wrap the end around the barrette a couple itmes and snap closed).  Or you could just touch up the ends with a crimping iron.

Of course, I'm terrible with a crimping iron--that's why I prefer braids.

And I wholeheartedly agree with Metalgirl about clip-in streaks.  They are the easiest (and surprisingly versatile) way to create a temporary dramatic look.
