About a year and half ago,, i started doing my
own relaxers and since then my hair has been 100%
healthier and i 've had enormous growth ,, I also
stopped coloring my hair about 3 yrs ago and i
suppose all that old relaxer and color is still on my
ends,, anyway now and then when i do split end
search and destroy I find these hairs and at the very
end of them there is this point where the hair will just
split off maybe a quarter of an inch or something( im
horrible at measurements) i can actually pull the
piece of hair off,, anyway do u think this is becuz of
the old damaged hair or am i doing somethine else
worng? i deep condition every week and do all the
other smart things,, and the rest of my hair looks
bright and healthy but its just those few tips that freak
 me out..........
------------- Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED

I have those also.  Could be from using heat.  That's what I think mine are from.  Even using heat protectants your hair can still get damaged because they can only do so much.  If you are doing everything wisely and carefully you shouldn't worry because I think pretty much everyone gets split ends at some point, even the most healthiest heads.

Oh okay thanx,, just wanted to make sure i wasnt
alone here lol,, and u got some long hair !! so maybe
those are some ends from when ur were relaxing
perhaps?? ,, i think mine are very old tattered ends
and when i see them i just snip a little above them (
its making me blind LOL) and the hair is healthy and
thicker above that point,, anyhoo ,, yeah everybody
does get split ends so i suppose i shouldnt be
 concerned

Actually I think mine is from flat ironing/heat styling because I'm pretty sure I don't have relaxed ends left (stopped getting perms in like 2000).  I think it's because before I knew any better, I didn't use heat protectants like I should and it damaged my ends.  I also like my flat iron very hot so that could be it also.  I haven't had many in a while though since I've been getting regular trims.
Right now since I've been wearing my hair naturally curly (since like May) i'm suffering from knots on the ends of my hair and i hate these with a passion .  But there's nothing I can do about it, it's just something that comes from wearing your hair in it's natural state, the curls loop into each other and eventually form a knot....hope you can understand my description.

Are u talking about those little things on the
single hair strand that looks like a knob?? If so
when my hair was curly I had a TON of those and my
brother has a curly head with short hair and he still
gets them and is always pulling them off with is
fingers,, when i was a little girl i wondered how in the
world could the hair loop around itself that way,, its
kinda amazing lol and the funny thing is i keep my
hair straight all the time now and i STILL get them
ocassionally,, anyway i guess try to keep your hair
as smooth and sleek as possible in order to prevent
those knots,,, as for a heat protectant the only thing i
could find that looked good ,, wasnt ridiculously
pricey( and still might not work) and had no alcohol
was the Fantasia IC heat protector serum and the
spary,, they smell soo so good, i cant wait to give em
 a try......

Oh my gosh!....that's so ironic.  The Fantasia IC was the same thing I was planning to buy.  I saw it in a hair magazine and it read really good.  It's in a pink bottle right?  I think it will work well because Fantasia has good products (I'm in love with their gel!).  I didn't know there was a spray though.  I think I might get them both when I start back flat ironing my hair when it gets colder.  If you use them before I do let me know how you like em'.

Yeah! I think im in love with this Fantasia IC line ,,
the product smells sooo good ,, just like some
strawberry shortcake doll i had when i was little:-)
And i think it works well becuz last nite even tho my
hair is FILTHY with serum lol (im gonna wash
tonight,, i got rained on early in the week)anyway, i
sprayed some on a section of the cleanest hair i
could find and it still didnt feel like it weighed it
down,, it kinda felt like oil sheen,, and the serum
didnt feel heavy or waxy or anything negative so im
excited to see how they will work on clean hair!,, the
spray is available right near the serum where the
pink fantasia products are in BSS. Both contain NO
ALCOHOL! im still afraid to use only these products
without my old serums that im so used to though cuz
i want the maximum barrier between my hair and the
heating appliance but ill see what balance works...
