The Pantene is probably leaving a build up on your hair that is causing it to be dry.  Do you clarify?  I usually clarify with apple cider vinegar and this is very effective.  I think Pantene is ok to use as long as you clarify regularly (every 2 weeks or monthly).  You may want to try more natural products, avoid mineral oils and use a shampoo with no sls.....there are very few that don't have it....Creme of Nature and Neutrogena triple moisture are two that don't.  Also, do protein and deep conditioner treatments and make sure to trim regularly because this makes a big difference.  Stick with the ladies on this forum and your hair will be growing in no time.

Brianna. If your hair in not making any progress length wise you are most likely doing some thing wrong, and I highly doubt that the main reason is the products you use. If you have a relaxer that is mostlikely one of the main problems (Overprocessing, Underprocessing, ect.) then there is heat damage, and then there neglect. So, question, why do you think that your hair has not been getting any longer?

I agree...there is more to your problem than shampoo.  Tell us what is your daily hair routine or weekly. How often do you use heat and how are you applying it? How often do you relax? How often do you trim? How often do you wash and do u follow up with conditioner? How often do you moisturize? What does your hair look like now?

Make sure to answer the questions and add the products that you use.

I had that SAME exact problem using Pantene Relaxed and Natural shampoo and conditioner ...  So I tossed them out!  To me they were boo-boo in a bottle!

Keep experimenting with different lines to find the best.  But if you want to keep the Pantene, try pre-treating (before shampoo) with pure olive oil for 15 minutes - rinse it out, then shampoo as usual... then after you put on the conditioner, add some essential oils on top of it...  That's what I usually do.

I wash & condition my hair with pantene every 3 weeks, I press and grease my scalp with ginseng miracle super gro. I don't use relaxers because I would have to press my hair after. I use a curling iron about 4 times a week,I use motions hair moisturizer every time I use my curling iron and I trim my ends every month. I have a nice length of hair (shoulder length) but  my hair use to be longer. I don't know what I'm doing wrong!

It sound like you are using too much heat.  Four times a week is probably too much for your hair and it's damaging your ends and causing breakage.  Try to cut back on heat styling by doing protective styles.  You could do wet sets which are really gentle on hair.  How often do you press?  Do you use a ceramic flat iron because this makes a difference also.  When I flat iron I usually do it once every two weeks and that's all I do to my hair as far as heat.  I wrap it at night to keep it straight.  My protective style is just a ponytail everyday.

Trimming is good but if you are trimming every month you are probably trimming most of the length you've gained that month off.  Hair grows about a half an inch a month so depending on how  much you're trimming this could be another reason you haven't seen much growth.

I agree with  Pokahontas you are trimming the growth away. How about doing a dusting or a search and destroy method? Dusting...is just a tiny tiny trim...just getting the very bits of your ends or the search and destroy method which is just finding the split ends and only cutting off the deadends.    Using heat 4 times a week is ALOT of heat...just like your skin would not like that much heat neither would your hair.  Also, you might need to wash your hair more often...maybe once a week. Your scalp is being sofficated by products and it's not helping the hair to grow at all. It sounds like your hair is damaged and it's just breaking off as it grows.

*So I suggest you clarify your hair and  scalp real well more often, especially if you are using lots of products.

* Less trims or use a different method

* Find a way to take care of your hair without alot of direct heat.

Pokahontas and Cmesweet is right but you may want to try washing your hair sooner than every three weeks, especially if you use alot of products. The longest I let my hair go is a week. Years a go I use to go every 2 weeks, but my hair was always ready sooner. Cut back on the heat, keep your hair moisturized and your ends protected.

Well, I was gonna give my .02 but everything these ladies said is dead on! Less heat, washing more frequently and trimming less often --doing those things and increasing moisture & protecting your ends and you'll def she a turn around in your hair. Good luck~
