Hey all! I have had fusion before (currently have heat seals) and am wondering about shrinkies. I LOVE the heat seals but see that the person who did my heat seals will be moving soon What is the benefit/purpose of shrinkies? They still use glue so do you still have the same glue residue to remove and the same possible hair damage? Why not just do fusion since glue is involved? If shrinkies are less harsh on the hair then I will try them! Thanks for any insight! ~lucky |

shrinkies are easier to apply, easier to remove, MUCH less glue, and almost no shedding. I also never had that matting problem with shrinkies like I did fusion. Overall it feels like a much "cleaner" install and takedown. I might eventually go back to fusion again around the hairlines and such, but Im really loving the shrinkies. they also have better hold then what I had with fusion. |

cool--so have you had any damage to your own hair w/ shrinkies? Or w/ fusion? I didn't have any damage w/ fusion but I was afraid I would if I continued b/c I kept hearing about it. Do you do your own? Thx for your help! ~lucky |

the removal process of the fusion chewed my hair up pretty bad. I have yet to have any problems from the shrinkies. And yes, I do my own hair (or voulenteer my boyfriend to help) *edit* I forgot to mention, Myself and Jenny on here both bleached our roots with shrinkies in. Apparently with how theyre designed, a tiny bit of bleach got in and ate through the hair. I dont recommend doing any colorin with them in. OTHER then that, lol, no problems. |

ok now, THAT is a nice boyfriend! What a great feeling, I bet, to be able to DIY. That is why I am going to learn to do my own. To be self sufficient! And less $ going out every 3 months! Thx for the shrinkies feedback. |

I'm about to pay $2800.00 for a two day class (with my own live model)
in HAIRDREAMS Hair Extensions (fusion)....They remove way faster than GreatLenghts or SoCap (which I use now). They also have a clip which sections the hair into 7 ready to go pieces!! I saw these at a Hair Show and called a few salons in Southern California and they were switching from GL and SoCap to Hairdreams! The best part......It only takes 2 hours to put in a whole head!!! (As opposed to 5-6 hours..) Anyone know or have opinions about Hairdreams? ------------- Life's a Journey..............NOT a Destination! |

| they have them here too (vegas) and I have been toying with the idea..they hair is european (which I know nada about) and the method is the same as GL so are the prices..for a half/volume only I was quoted around 1,100.00. So same as GL..I also saw the pretipped peices and they come in several sizes from larger to very small sections which I liked...but i wonder if theu really are less harmful..I mean after all, they are glue no matter how you fancy it up..they have a good after care program too..you pay for so many check-up's as part of your price and you get a little hair journal to remind you.. |

1985indy, can you tell me more about this sectiong tool? I remember seeing a tutorial on some website where the stylist had some kind of tool which she just whipped though the hair and then it parted and sectioned off the hair in a snap. I'm sure it takes practice but I have such fine, flyaway hair I have to use a million clips to keep my sections clean. Something along these lines would be awesome. edited because i apparently can't spell while i eat. |

They are all about the same price. The "European Hair" is from Austria, Sweden and Germany...it is VIRGIN! It is quite a bit more expensive than the "Indian Temple" Hair that GL uses exclusively. Hairdreams uses both types. You can only re-use the European Hair, not the Indian Temple. They damage the cuticle by coloring the Indian Temple, they only darken the European Hair so it's cuticle stays in tact!! I talked to a girl at Frederik Fakkai in Beverly Hills, she paid $1700.00 JUST FOR THE HAIR for a client who wanted the very light blond 22" virgin hair....... ------------- Life's a Journey..............NOT a Destination! |

The sectioning tool is worth the $2800.00 alone! LoL. It is a regular plastic clip that hairdressser's use, it has some extra teeth that when you pull the bottom part of the clip across the hair it sections it into tiny perfectly spaced pieces, ready to go! They looked fine enough to put a half extension in, which is what I like for everyone with fine hair. The half pieces are so lightweight, I have not had damage with them. The whole pieces are heavier, therefore the thin hair can't support it as well, and you get too much pulling on the scalp....The tutorial you saw, sounds like the same tool, exactly! About the "million clips" you have to use....I know! I always pull a few hairs out when I'm trying to get the little metal clippies OUT! That defeats the purpose of trying to get thicker hair. ------------- Life's a Journey..............NOT a Destination! |
