i have a perm and it is so quick and easy to look after, however they can end up being very expensive because you need to buy the best products. Before i got my perm i used to scrunch it with gel but it only gave me waves, it looked nice but it didn't give me curls. On my hair the diffuser made it a little frizzy but my hair is probably totally different to yours! There are many ways to curl your hair but a lot of them take a while. One way to curl your hair is putting gel in wet hair and twisting it around your fingers while blowdrying with a diffuser, this should give your big loose curls, another one for tighter curls is dividing your hair into about 6-8 even peices and twisting them around your finger untill they start to twist around themselves (if your know what i mean) and eventually they will twist so much that they will form a little bun on your head. clip with a bobby pin or ties with hair tie and continue with the rest of your hair untill you have little buns all over your head. You do this with wet hair then let dry or blowdry then spray with hairspray and undo. You should have ringlets all over which you can play around with to make them loose. But once i left the buns in overnight and when i woke up in the morning my hair had gone from my shoulders to my ears it was so curly! only thing is my ideas for curling hair aren't quick! Garnier Fructis have a curl cream, curl gel and curl mousse that are all good for creating, holding or defining curls. But your idea of gathering the geled hair into the diffuser would probably look really nice.
hope i helped.
