Calling ladies with strand by strand method.....

How do you shampoo your hair?  Do you rub the shampoo into your scalp like in a circular motion?  Yes... thats what I do...

I am trying to figure out what is causing slippage, maybe the way I shampoo my hair?  My great lengths extensions(only 3 weeks old) have been slipping, lots have come off  ..... I know it could be many reasons, but I am just trying to figure out if it is me or if its the installation.

One problem I have is I have itchy scalp and according to the contact at GL, I can use tea tree shampoo which is supposed to help with my problem.  Maybe the oil in the shampoo is causing them to slip?

My stylist is no help, 3 weeks after installation she still havent given me the instruction sheet she promised.  And when I asked her to check my hair, she said they look fine, even with all the slippage.

Thanks for any advises..

Well the only strand by strand I've had is shrinkies. I didn't rub my scalp in a circular motion. That would have pulled and put tension on my roots I felt so I lathered my hand and pat suds on my scalp gently pushing the suds in between the strands to my roots/scalp.

I did find my shrinkie application to be pretty itchy. I never lost one though and had no slippage.

I rub and scratch and get right in there anywhere I do not have
bonds. The whole crown and a few inches down the sides are free so
I really get in there good.

Where the bonds are, I get my fingers in there and just do a very
gentle side by side motion with just the padded part of the fingertips.

The length of the hair I do not rub together at all. I get the length
*full* of water, put the shampoo on my palms and rub together and
then I squeeze it into the length of the extension hair. You know how
you squeeze out a wet towel? Like that but I don't twist the hair, I
just squeeze my shampoo-covered hands around it.

With your hair so long, I have a feeling you spend quite a bit of time in shower ..

Thanks guys for the replies, I guess I should start padding and not rubbing.

yeah patting not rubbing is a good idea.

Also I find nearly all ext methods itchy.  At some point I became more tolerant of it.  Also I think rinsing the bond areas really really well helps because sometimes itching is caused by left over shampoo which is more likely with extensions.

I mix a bit a clarifying shampoo w/ water, turn my head upside down, gently pat it on my scalp before I get in the shower while my hair is still dry.  Easier for me to work it in that way.  Gently work it around the ext w/ my fingers in more of a patting motion. I rinse w/ a hand held shower head w/ my hand over the shower head to soften the H20 flow--the hand held deal really gets the shampoo out.  (I don't apply clarifying shampoo directly on the ext--I gently pat a special shampoo on the ext after my hair is wet--no rubbing or wringing) I wash every 3rd day now w/ heat seals--was every other w/ fusion.

I also don't let my hair hang when it is wet b/c it is heavy (especially human hair) so I rest it on my shoulder while it is wet while I'm in the shower.  What an event, it is!
