Which looks better, redhead or brunette?  I'm currently a redhead, and to achieve the color, I bleach and then apply red haircolor.  The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to get the dark brown roots to stay bleached/red, even though I feel like I get as close to the scalp as I can during both processes.  This is really a 2 part question:  Red or Brunette?  Secondly, how do I get the roots to stay red?

Redhead! Hehe of course I like red better i too am a natural brunnette turned redhead!

For me tho, I haven't touched bleach at all, I use permanent red color with 30 volume developer to lift at the roots for touch-ups.

My red is a more fiery orangey red and i get it without using bleach. What bleach/color do u use?

I used Couleur Experte the first time.  IT contains highlights and permanent color.  I did the highlihgts on my hair before I applied the color.  Last month, I bought some sort of highlighting kit for darker hair, highlighted the roots, and used a semi permanent color.  The rest of the hair is maintaining its color, but the roots.  I don't get the roots.

You mentioned a 30 developer---how would I know what strength the developer is?  In the ingredients list? Thank you!!!

Ah! Let me begin by answerring ur q. I actually use prof. color and buy the developer seperate that way i can choose the strength i want. Regular store bought dyes usually contain no more than 20 vol. developer. Not nearly enough to lift darker color.

You might wanna try a beauty supply or a sally's. You can then buy a permanent red color along with a developer bottle from the same company as the color or a generic developer, in 30 volume. There's actualyl this one permanent color that i haven't tried personally but it contains less than 1% ammonia and u can choose developer strength. Its called Satin color and while i haven't seen it at sally's i have seen it available at most other beauty supplies. Its italian and has a wide variety of shades. Otherwise any permanent color at sally's should be good.

Both colors are very lovely, but I must say, you do wear that RED hair very
well. If I had to choose, I'd choose RED.

Kinda ironic actually, because my hair is currently red and I'm looking to
darken it or color over it. But it doesn't look as good on me!!

Both, I think you look awesome in any color mostly because you do such
a good job coordinating your clothes and makeup schemes with your hair
color! Awesome job, it's a skill that not many people have.

Thanks to everybody for your kind words, comments and suggestions.  I've decided to maintain the red color for the time being, though I am fickle and may eventually do something else.  I'm going to try the stronger developer to help cover up the roots. Thank you!

I like your brunette.  That would be easy to achieve over the red, you might even get a nice reddy brown result!  (LIKE MINE!!!)
