Believe it or not. I'm 18 and starting to get bald. I dont know why it's happening.
My parents are not bald.
Is it because of too much brushing?
Or using a wave kit?
Keep give me some info and what can I use to grow my hair back...

dang man, balding is hereditary. the father always gives the gene for baldness. its up to the mother to give one for baldness or hair(which is dominant). neither one of ur parents might not be bald, but u may have had a great great grandfather who did when he was 18. ask ur parents if they know of ne premature balding in your family.
u can try sum doo gro, or ne herbal growth product. cant guarantee if itll work.
give us sum more detail tho.
do you use kits? if so... how often?
is ur brush soft or hard and how long do you brush within a day?

First of all kits don't make your hair fall out unless you use them the wrong way or you are using them too much. You know how you see some sisters with patches in their, this comes from too much perming and not taking care of their natural hair. Be natural and take care of your natural hair. Some peoples hair is not made for kits anyway. If you have thin hair. I would stay away from kits all together. I haven't used a kit in almost 6 months now and I have coarse hair that's still spinning. My advice, don't use a kit if you going bald.
Baldness is hereditary, it does come from the men in your family. However, you can brush too hard and cause hair breakage. A hard brush will cause hair to break if you don't know what you are doing. But it will grow back if you are not ment to be bald. A hard brush is not for all hair texures either. I have coarse hair with no baldness genes in my family. All of my people have real thick coarse hair that don't fall out, you dig. Don't try to be like me cause you are not me. Do you and find out what works for YOU.

It can speed up the process of balding if you already got the genes for it. My man C-Love back in highschool had them 360's but right his hairline is waaaaaaaay back. He had thin straight hair and brushed too much. He did have balding in his family though. I guess he speeded up the process. He's only 34 and look like these guys >>>>>>

Remember when Samuel L Jackson had hair.
His balding is in his genes, not because of pomades or too much brushing.

Baldness can be hereditary but not all baldness is not hereditary some can be cause by friction or pulling the hair too tight, it's called traction alopecia. Hair products will not make your hair grow back, especialy doo grow, everyone thinks it makes your hair grow...your hair grows from the inside out and not the outside in. I would suggest you see a doctor such as a trichologists or a dermatalogists, it may be a reaction to a wave kit...which is basically the same products as drano (hair melting product for drains)
I'll give you some info on different reasons why you may be balding but you really need to go get some professional assistance

What is Alopecia Areata? |
| |
|
Alopecia areata (al-oh-PEE-shah air-ee-AH-tah) is a highly unpredictable, autoimmune skin disease resulting in the loss of hair on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. This common but very challenging and capricious disease affects approximately 1.7 percent of the population overall, including more than 4.7 million people in the United States alone. Due to the fact that much of the public is still not familiar with alopecia areata, the disease can have a profound impact on one's life and functional status, both at work and at school.
In alopecia areata, the affected hair follicles are mistakenly attacked by a person's own immune system (white blood cells), resulting in the arrest of the hair growth stage. Alopecia areata usually starts with one or more small, round, smooth bald patches on the scalp and can progress to total scalp hair loss (alopecia totalis) or complete body hair loss (alopecia universalis).
Alopecia areata occurs in males and females of all ages and races; however, onset most often begins in childhood and can be psychologically devastating. Although not life-threatening, alopecia areata is most certainly life-altering, and its sudden onset, recurrent episodes, and unpredictable course have a profound psychological impact on the lives of those disrupted by this disease. For more information, click here on http://www.alopeciaareata.com/requestinfo/faq.asp - What You Should Know.
Here are different types of alopecia
DESCRIPTION: Absence of the hair from skin areas where it normally is present
- Telogen effluvium - diffuse hair loss that results in decreased hair density but does not progress to complete baldness
- Anagen effluvium - diffuse shedding of hairs, including growing hairs, that may progress to complete baldness
- Cicatricial alopecia - also known as scarring alopecia and characterized by slick, smooth scalp without any evidence of follicular openings of hair
- Androgenic alopecia - hair loss occurring in either sex, caused by stimulation of the hair roots by male hormones
- Alopecia areata - patchy, non-scarring hair loss
- Traction alopecia - patchy, initially non-scarring hair loss
- Tinea capitis - patches of hair broken off close to the scalp, with or without associated inflammation, caused by fungus infection

Thank you all for your replies.
Yall might remember me by the name of, adelajawaves. I was on this forum a year ago trying to seek answers on how to get waves.
I've used that wave kit a year ago. I thought it would give me some waves. It didn't. I always use hard brushes. I just have not been motivated to get waves now then I have in the past. Any advice?
Moving on to the bald part. I'm trying to see if I'm really bald or not. It could been a mistake that my barber made on my previous cut. So, I just got a fresh cut, all bald-- to see if I'm really going bald. It's been about a week now, and I see no bald spots so far, but I'll wait another week to see any change made.
It's good to be back here.
