I just used wella clear gloss on my hair it was blonde and reddish brown highlights that are grown out about 1/2 inch and my natural roots are dark blonde/light brown. I swear that it lightened my hair color especially at the roots. Has anyone heard of this? Now my hair is a light orangeish blonde. Has anyone ever had this happen and is there anything I can do?

umm no apparently its supposed to be impossible...perhaps what ur seeing is a result of the extra light reflection from the clear gloss, thus creating the illusion of lighter hair? You'd really have to consult a pro since most of us not and since we can't see ur hair for real. But what sort of developer did u use with it? Was it just an infuser or did it have like 20 vol peroxide in it? And how long did u leave it in?

It was wella clear gloss and I used the activating lotion that matches it, the girl at sally's showed me. I left it in for 20 min. it like it said on the box. To me my hair really doesn't look very glossy just the slight color change.

Wella's color line is a TERRIBLE and I do mean TERRIBLE color line. It has the highest ammonia concentrate of any color line and it's very drying and damaging to someone's hair. That high concentrate could have blown open the cuticle layer of your hair strands and some of the color could have bled out. Use a deep conditioner for color treated hair then rinse it with cool water to seal up that cuticle or the color could continue to fade out. DON'T USE WELLA! I know Sally's sells it is that where you purchased it? It's a terrible line...just ask any professional colorist.

G'luck

Thanks for the post Claude. Now I don't feel like I am going crazy. We did buy it at sally's. We were going to buy Clairol color gloss but the lady recommended wella. My mother colored her hair brown and then put on the gloss and it also lightened hers which was a little more understandable but my roots were my natural hair. My hair did feel very dry after and they told us it would not do that(very gentle). I have been and will continue to deep condition.

Actually koleston perfect has really low ammonia but only pros can buy that. I guess the same cannot be said for their retail line at sally's.

But u def. won't go wrong in purchasing the clairol radiance gloss it doesn't damage the hair.

hm..never heard of that. its not supposed to lighten, since its not mixed with a developer. i think that its probably the gloss making your hair color look more bright and potent, making it LOOK like its lighter but its just brighter.
