I am starting a new thread because the old one kind of got sidetracked on what Locks of Love is about.

I am mainly curious to see when Ann will cut her hair, how long it will be at that time, how much they will cut and what it will look like when it's short?  Not sure how much hair Ann will have left if they cut 10 inches or so off.  I'm guess she will still have hair that is near shoulder length?  What do you guys think?

If she waits till december to cut I'd say she'd still have shoulder length or a tad longer if only 10 inches required. but she's the only one who knows how much is being cut till that day,she may not have decided how short to go yet. some comments she's said hints she likes it long since grown it out so maybe not to much.

Well if it hits her waist(Ladies out there with this lenght could give us a ball park figure foot and half?)that is 18" take 10 off that 8 would be mid back?

I think that the people who think that Ann's cut will be a drastic change will be disappointed.  Cutting 10 inches for her already very long hair won't look a whole lot different when they show her reading the news.

Still it's a lot to give. I just hope it's more hipe then real. How many times has this been out there and nothing? Or this new report we can say is real?

Just a hunch, but those wanting a dramatic cut will probably be disappointed.  I got a feeling it will be a little longer than shoulder length with some layering after all is done.

Any takers on that bet?

Ratings?  I can assure you her hair has NOTHING to do with rating.  The few hair freaks the visit here are the only one that have more than a slight interest in Anne's hair.  Don't forget, even though we have found comfort in our numbers... we are all freeks!

Seeing Ann Curry is the ONLY reason I ever tune in the Today Show. She looks to be a stunning 30-35 year old now. I can't believe she's 49! Her long hair is her Fountain of Youth, IMO. I'll bet a million folks flick the remote in hopes of seeing her every day. Best, Bob

I humbly disagree, but I guess the proof will be how the haircut is pulled off. Will Anne get her hair cut on the air? If so, it's for the show, it build's up Anne as a caring person donating hair in her mom's memory to LoL and, ultimately, it improves the shows ratings. If it wasn't about the ratings, she would just grow the hair without talking to publications (People magazine included) that are publicizing it. Once it's the "right" length for cutting, she would have it done secretly on her own time and quietly make the donation. She would grow the hair until it gets to the point of cutting it, do it secretly and quietly make the donation. So do you want to wager on this, one freak to another?

I think you are probably right that it won't be as dramatic a change as people were initially thinking.  Part of that is that she has waited longer than we thought to do it.  If she had done the donation back in May, she would be looking at pretty short hair left.

Now though it's going to be much more her option.  If she cuts only the 10 inch minimum then she will probably still have hair around her shoulders or maybe just above it.  Ten inches is still a lot of hair and if she goes for more like 12, then it will look a lot different.  I don't expect her to cut as much off as she possibly could.  Who knows though?  I guess we'll find out in about 2 months.

If she talks about it on the air, and possibly does it on air, it's a stunt to
publicize LoL and promote the "Today Show." People like to watch
makeovers and makeovers of celebs is that x... well something.

Thus far though it's only been in two pubs that I know of. That's fairly under
the radar. I imagine this is a charity Anne believes in or she wouldn't donate.
It's always a good idea to promote your charities any chance you get.
Charities always need publicity.

Ok lets say two feet by the time it's to her waist? 24 " total

If she goes 10" you still have 14 that would be what mid back? Still that would be nice to see. Or do you all think it's going waist to chin?

On The Today Show, Ann rarely wears her hair down these days. And when she does, it's usually behind her back. She also seems to wear it up when out in public. I'm thinking she doesn't want people to get used to her with long, gorgeous hair.

I'll be bummed out if the day comes that Ann once again has shorter hair than Katie Couric.

If that's typical of what she's trying to get people used to, then she must have decided to go for some ultra short style.

Ann really can't afford a major a major change in her look as the network is setting her up to be a major news anchor someday. For the same reason I predict that there will be no haircut sideshow either. Due to the general preponderance of long to medium hairstyles on female anchors I also predict Ann's haircut will be a disapointment for the short hair lovers.

Carmichael I hope you are right. It would be a shame that after all this she goes back to her short days.

They had Ann's Intimate Portrait on lLifetime last nite. Toward the end she talked a little about daughters suggestion of growing hair long, Ann couldn't say no. She said now her hair is driving her nuts. Katie's comment was good thing to do together with daugther but do it soon cause getting really long like Pochantis.  So it could be a dramatic cut. Hopefully not for I like it really on her fantastic!

What's the betting?

Is she going to wind up like this?

Like this?

Or like this?

I'm hoping for the first pic long enough but also short enough for good donation and shouldn't drive her to nuts to keep it

Anne's hair was around the middle of her back today. When she wears it
down, she does one of the least attractive things I can think of: she brushes
it straight back. A side part at any length is preferrable. A center part or
some bangs aren't bad, but straight back is just awful. Of course, if all you
do is put it up all the time I guess that's how you have it.

I don't care what length she goes to, as long as she does something more
attractive than she has now. Long hair can be beautiful, but she makes it
boring.

Ann wore her hair up again this morning. <Yawn.> Is it driving her nuts because A) she has to get up so early in the morning and doesn't have time to get her hair ready, B) she's lazy, C) it gets in her way when it's down or D) she doesn't like her hair long?

Ann, please satisfy us longhair lovers while you have it and wear it down once in awhile!

Of all the newscasters, Ann has the best hair, up or down. I like women with long hair and am a fan of updos as well. It would be a shame if Ann ever got a haircut of any kind. She should let it grow to her waist before she even thinks about a trim.

"Locks of Love" is a SCAM. They don't use the hair they obtain to make wigs for kids with cancer. What they do is hoodwink women into parting with their crowning glory so they can SELL the hair to obtain money in return. THEN they use the money to buy a  MINIMAL number of wigs for the children. They keep the difference as profit. Some reporter ought to invesigate them and expose them. That would be a great story for Ann to do. "Locks of Love" needs to be put out of business!

I don't want to kill another thread, but while there are some facts in this
statement, it is inaccurate. Some people think if they keep saying
inaccurate things about Locks of Love, they'll get people to believe them.

I obtained my information from the Better Business Bureau. There are rumors which may or may not be true. Again, someone needs to investigate the facts which exist apart from Locks' self-serving statements. The way I see this organization, Locks decreases the number of long-haired women and does it by not stating the whole truth about its operations.

What exactly did you obtain from the Better Business Bureau? There is a 3
year old statement on their site that Locks of Love complied with all their
requirements but didn't provide one financial statement they requested.
Since the Better Business Bureau is a private organization and not a
public one, Locks of Love isn't required to give them all of their financial
reports. The Better Business Bureau isn't a government organization, even
though people believe it is. Perhaps someone should investigate the
Better Business Bureau.

People have read the information on the Better Business Bureau site and
concluded that Locks of Love doesn't use all their ponytails. That may or
may not be true.

That said, Locks of Love isn't a scam. They don't use the hair they obtain
to make wigs for kids with cancer and never said they did. They make
wigs for children with alopecia, a difficult condition that my cousin has. If
they didn't actually make these wigs, they would be a scam. But they
make these wigs.

They don't buy wigs. They make them. They do sell some hair to pay for
their expenses. All charities have expenses. How should they pay these
expenses? Locks of Love probably doesn't get a lot of cash donations,
because people donate hair instead. If they have more hair than they can
use, converting it to cash makes sense. All of these things are in their
literature and on their website.

There has never been any report that the money goes to line someone's
pockets. That would be a scam. There is no profit.

Locks of Love does decrease the number of long-haired women. So what?
Isn't that the choice of the women? You seem to want to force women to
keep their hair long. Anything that may encourage women to cut their
hair is a scam, in your opinion. Thus you say "Locks of Love needs to be
put out of business!" Well, sorry. You can't control women. They'll cut
their hair if they want.

Locks of Love is a quality charity. They may not do the most important
work in the world and they don't correct people's misconceptions, but
that doesn't mean they aren't doing good work. I know they are.
