My hair was always been wavy - at the front it tends to wave to my left and at the back it waves to my right.
I've always styled my hair so it is spiked and leaning back which I
used to do my simply combing some gel through my hair and using the
comb to flick it up. This worked fine before but now I'm growing my
hair just a little bit longer (it's currently about 2 inches long on
top) and my hair always wants to stay flat - if I do manner to get some
of it to stand up then waves just as I said above.
Can anyone recommend a way to make my hair do what I want it to?

Longer hair would have more weight, so your hair will want to fall down
all the time. Try blowdrying it that way so that it dries in the
direction you want it to. Or try using a flat-iron, too that might
work. It might even just need a stronger hold gel or something. Joico
make a whole bunch of products specifically for creating spikes and
stuff.
Hope I helped!

Thanks for your reply.
I've using very strong hair
gel - it's called 'Manga Head' in the UK since it's suppose to be able
to hold hair in all directions. The problem is my hair - like I say, it
knows which way it wants to point and it takes a lot of persuasion to
make it go any other way. Now that it's getting longer it's just
getting more and more difficult. :(
Any other advice?

Try a hair paste or molding putty. They;re much heavier than gel and
you can use them on dry hair. Joico make some good ones, heres the
website www.joico.com click on the ICE styling stuff. I'm sure you can
find something similar in differnet ranges. I think Loreal have some,
too. I hope that helps!
