If you are happy with your hair then that's the thing that
counts. I'd just like to say that leaving extensions of any kind
in for 6 months scares the crap out of me. The opportunity for
matting at the head and the amount the bonding sites shoud have grown
out from your head is just well disturbing to me. Again whatever
floats your boat

hmm, I donīt know. my hair didnīt knot up at all and you couldnīt see
the extensions either, even after six months. I had quite a bit of my
own hair layered over them. maybe itīs more of a problem if you start
the extensions early in the layers. my hairdresser too said that
normally they are taken out after 3-4 months, but I guess that it
helped that I took care of them really well. I never left them humid,
always used conditioner, always untangled them, didnīt blowdry too hot
and always slept with a braid.

oh, and everybody seems to talk about that the bondings are noticible
when the hair grows out. I donīt get the point. what difference does it
make if it is two inches further down. the bonding could possibly be
seen when
applied very high as well as when it has grown lower. itīs always a
question if it is covered by hair. or is that a wrong impression I
have?

did you have a lot of grow out after that many months? I just worry about the matting and since I have to iron my curly hair to get it straight, I worry that I might remelt the bonds trying to get my hair to lay straight on accident or something..as much as I HATE the thought of a track or two, I think that for me it might be the best route..now if I could only get some of Amm's hair...*sigh*

I had about 7 centimeters. I donīt know how much that is in inches... I will look it up in a converter later.
I straighten my hair too, it is only naturally wavy though. I style my hair the following way and it works great:
take the top layer of the hair (which doesnīt have bondings on it) and
clam it away. then blowdry the bondings not too hot, leave the rest of
the hair alone. if you straighten your hair with roundbrushes now
blowdry the part below the bonding like you always have and only
straighten it there with the iron. last blowdry the top lawyer and
style it as you always have. this way you shouldnīt have a problem with
catching a bonding with the iron and they stay intact because you only
blowdry them with lower heat.
at least thatīs how I do it.

I'm sure it helps that you have quite a bit of hair to begin with(length and fullness).
For me the further from my head the more obvious the bonds are. I
think they have more of a chance to peak through your natural hair when
they are grown out.
And I didn't mean matting in the length of your hair (though I commend
your deidication to braiding every night and using good
products). I meant matting up close to your head. My hair
isn't too bad about it but some people here have serious problems with
it. I've only had matting issues when I wear braids. Not
pinch braids, but full braids so that there is no way to brush your
hair. then the part between the beginning of the braid and my
head really mats up. But its not that hard to comb out if you are
patient.
I don't see any problem with the blending on your hair. How high
up did you extensionist place the bonds? (top of your ears, even with
your eye brows...)?? you said there was a lot of your hair at the
top to cover. That always makes a difference on blending too.
7cm is not quite 3 inches. which would make me looney! but like I said if you are happy with it then party on.

hi mochachip...
thanx for your posting... the bonds are above the ear, I would say 1.5 cm below the hairline.
now that I look at the pictures I think that it could actually be more hair. what do you think?
oh and those matting issues... never had them... but like you say, probably everybodyīs hair is different...

oh, and what are your tricks for blending the own hair with styling,
especially in the back. Iīm always in the impression that it can be
seen...

i mean, Pat- could you be any more pretty..i think it looks great. And, I agree, with 3 inches of grow-out I would be crazy too (but that would be a mess for me cause that grow-out would never be smooth, but kinky/wavy and then the rest would be maybe smooth..maybe)..I meant matting at the bond also..I hear that can be a problem..I do not often blow dry my hair cause 1. it makes it too big/frizzy/poofy 2. I have to iron it anyhow, and I feel that both are doing too much in one shot..so I usually airdry then if I am going to straighten I will wait till next day or whatever..the more I read and hear i feel that a weft (blech) might be best for me. although I LOVE the look of individuals so much more!

I donīt know if it is different with other methods but I did have
matting with my first extensions when I went to bed with wet hair as I
always used to do before. I noticed that it got tangled up really bad
every time I let it airdry. so the least I do (as on the pictures) is
blowdry the bonding part and on the rest of the hair it doesnīt matter
anyhow. maybe it works for you...
oh, another question... looking through the board, the prices in the us
for GL seem incredible. do you have any idea how much I would have paid
there and how much would I pay for the hair like it is right now with
different methods but really good hair (I wouldnīt save on that). When
I finish my exams in Germany Iīll be moving to california, so Iīm
curious...

I like choppy layers for blending. in the back or
otherwise. I also like a whole lot of hair to make the blend
smooth. I think you could certainly use more hair if you wanted,
but I don't know that you need it.
