I was reading some of the posts and one mentioned a heat cap. What is it and where can you get one?

A heat cap is used to provide even, moisturizing heat to the hair when using deep conditioners or protein treatments. I got mine on ebay. The original cost for mine is $30, but I got it for $12, and it is great. If not just enter heat cap on your search engine and it will give you a bunch of places where you can buy one. Also, find out if there is a Sally's beauty supply in your area. You can find one there.
