I have always gotten my hair colored at the salon but for since we've moved I don't have a sylist here yet and decided to do it myself. *EEEEEK*

I had blonde highlights with ash brown lowlights and roots. I wanted to acheive a color similar to the highlights. I got ORANGE. It was terrible. So I rushed in to a salon here and the woman tried to fix it, and now my hair is auburn. I have pink toned skin and reds are NOT pretty on me at all. It's terrible. I desperately want this fixed, it's horrendous - reddish at the roots, ashy at the ends. I DIDN'T buy a red toned color the first time because I knew that wasn't what I wanted and somehow thats what I got anyway. :(

Where do I go from here? Can I go back to blonde? Is all this coloring going to ruin my hair?? Please help me! I don't even want to leave the house without a hat right now.

I would first call the lady who tried to fix it and tell her you are NOT happy with it. Before you do anything else ask her what your options are.(she should correct her bad color for free) Most higher end places offer a free consultation, you may want to have one or two of those to just talk about how to fix it. Make sure you state what you want and sometimes more importantly....what you DON'T want....ie, no reds please!!! Maybe take a few magazine pictures of colors that you do like.

I told her that I was upset and why, she said she did the best she could (?!?!?!) and I didn't have to pay for it thankfully. I am afraid of going back there, this is my second bad experience with them. (I know, shame on me)

Do you think that I coud use some unred on my hair? Just as an additive to my daily conditioner? I would also like to lighten this as soon as possible, how long do you think I should wait?

Ok, I'm glad you didn't have to pay for it then, don't go back. I don't think unred will be strong enough for auburn ( that's kind of dark.) Do you have a picture? What color do you want to be now? Blonde? If so...you'll have to get the color out first use something gentle(colorfix?) Then bleach till hair is all pale yellow, then tone. Look into neutral filler so hair doen't grab color on ends. I hope you get some other responses, as I am having my own dark disaster right now

I should have just stayed blond...it was easier!!! I am going to get mine corrected....you may just want to talk to some other salons and get a consult. I feel your pain sister!!!!

I'm okay with the brownish color of it, just hoping that the unred will take out the brassiness. Then maybe I can go in and get some dramatic highlights in the brown which I think would look nice. But then again, I thought that this haircolor would look nice, I was TRYING to go for more blond and look where it got me. *SIGH*

Here are the pics.

After home color:

After salon "fix": (the flash of the camera actually makes it look more even than it really is and makes it look like it has depth, which it most definetly does not!)

I found a person who knows what she's doing. She did some heavy highlights in my hair and it's still a little reddish but the highlights make it look much more even and at least it's in the range of blonde now!

Oh it looks so MUCH better!!!!!  Your hair still looks really shiney and healthy (and pretty now too WOOHOO!!!!) Did she tone it for you too?(to help with the red orange?) I go tomorro at 10am..hope I get a good result too

*crosses fingers!!!!

She didn't tone it. I am going back in for a little touch up tomorrow around the front because my hairline along my forehead and ears isn't quite even. But I think that I will have her tone it then. We talked about doing it today but she thought I didn't need it. I am thinking that maybe I do. The highlights are almost white looking so I think that toning would warm it up a little? Anyway I still wish that I had never done anything to begin with but at least I can live with it now.

It has lost a lot of shine but I'll give that up for a decent color! ;)

Good luck with your hair tomorrow!! Post some pics!

Here is one more pic in a little more natural light. I blanked out my face because I hadn't showered yet and even if I don't know anyone here personally I wasn't going to paste up my face for the world to see. LOL
