OK...Im at 5 weeks with a combination of 3 brands of hair for a side by side comparison.

As you all probably know by now, I used hair from hair21.com for a few years and was very happy with it. I ranted and raved about the quality of the hair. The last order was so difficult and plagued with problems, and when I finally did get it, something was different about the prebonded tips. They shed badly. Well with no success of dealing with the Korean company. I re-tipped all that I had, and went on a mission of finding a comparable quality human hair.

I installed 1 4 ounce weft of Bohyme straight. 2 ounces of hair21 hair and 2 ounces of Lush*Hair. All for comparison purposes to see exactly under the same conditions and *torture* that I put my hair through, how each brand would hold up!

The Lush*hair is by far holding up better than the Bohyme, and is of the same comparable quality of the hair21. hair.

I literally 'torture' my hair. I wash, blowdry, and curl on a daily basis...so it doesnt get any more harsh that this! The Bohyme looks wonderful, if I wear it straight. But this Bohyme straight doesnt react well to curling with an iron. It looks frizzy on the ends when I use a smaller barrel iron. The lush and hair.21 hair takes and holds the curl well, and doesnt frizz.

Im at 5 weeks with LG bonded in wefts and shrinkies. I will update again before I take down, with a final review. Bonds are going strong so Ill push the bonds as long as possible. I am sure that this hair will outlast the LG bonds. Im sure I will get at least 2/3 more weeks out of the bonds.

If blonde hair can last 8 weeks with the torture that I give it....it would probably last twice as long for someone who is gentler to their hair! Over all the Bohyme and the Lush* Hair both get a thumbs up from me. Although I think the Lush is better than the Bohyme straight for my purposes. And my next install will be Lush*Hair!

Right on! Thanks for the update!

The hair21 hair *is* good so that's a great compliment.

I really wish I could've gotten wefts this time. Why? I tried those
damn screw thread microrings that I got as a sample from a supplier.
I put them in 2 rows on the side of my head and tested the Lush Hair
with them for about 2 weeks. I have *mangled* my hair. They would
not come out and every single one was a damn drama to open. My
long crown bangs are ok and the bottom layer is fine but I have two
perfectly shredded rows on both sides of my head. I had to cancel
boogiemama last week and I am just sick about it. There is NOTHING
to braid there. I'm doing my RK clip-ins again above and below the
damage. I could sure use some of that Lush in weft form right now to
do your sandwich install.

Oh Amm Im so sorry to hear about the damage from the screw rings. And you were doing so good getting all of the previous damage grown out....

Its good to know though about the screw rings....I will stay away from them.

Anytime you get enough requests to do a weft order you can count me in for at least one or two wefts.

OMG I am so sorry to hear about that damage.  They sell those micro-rings over here in the UK with the screw and that too happened to me.  They should be shot for making those! x

Hey Sherri,

What style of Bohyme are you using? Silky Straight?

Yep Kristin..its silky straight, and looks wonderful worn straight or with just the ends curled under, or with a big loose wave. But if I use a 3/4 or 5/8 barrel iron, like I usually use, the ends just look frizzy and fried, and if I brush it it poofs into a frizz ball!

Gosh you must really *torture* your hair   I've never had any of the Silky Straight poof up or get fried and I straighten it or curl it everyday. I've had my #613 in for about 3 months and it's still super soft. Good to hear you like the lush hair though, I'll have to try some from Amm.

Hmmm...Sherrie  Very odd. I'm stumped on that one!

Amm...I hate to hear that. Can you put your proflex to use?

Kristen the silky straight Bohyme has been like that from the beginning. I just dont think its meant to be in tighter curls and possibly the body wave would work better for that purpose, but for the curls that I normally wear, the silky straight Bohyme just doesnt perform for me. The Bohyme is not fried by any means, and it looks wonderful straight, wavy or in a big loose curl

hi sherrie - may I ask where you buy the Lush Hair?  I went with his and  her for wefts for glue bonding, and at week 3 now the hair is constantly matting up at the back and its driving me batty.  I'd love to find something new.  thanks for the review!

Erin girl,  http://www.Shrinkies.net - www.Shrinkies.net

Though the Lush hair is due in late Oct. This Lush hair is pretipped for strand by strand rather than glued/sewn wefts

I've worn silky straigt Bohyme curled with medium size hot rollers, and I never had a frizz problem- just my 2 cents worth!

thanks gina.  I'm not sure I'm up for the challenge yet of doing DIY shrinkies (although I'm considering it), so I guess I'll keep on the search for  better quality wefts than the ones I'm wearing now.  the lush hair sounds gorgeous though!

gina - I was JUST looking at that website!  too funny.  :-)  it looks like EP is here in los angeles, so I'm going to see if I can go in on saturday and  see the wefts in person.  the softwear line looks promising!  thanks again for the recommendations, I really appreciate it.

envious - I did go and have a look.  I bought some gorgeous italian hair that has the  most adorable soft curl and body to it.  I'm loving it and having NONE of the matting issues I had with the his and her hair.  I've had it in about 3 weeks now.

tangles - I'm in sherman oaks.  :-)  I'd love to try the lush hair as well.  in fact, I'm ready to try individuals (shrinkies) at this point I think.  I love my wefts, but no matter what bonding I use - I've used both chrissyv and liquid gold - I think I may get a more secure hold with the links.  I'm a total newbie at this, so it'll be an experiment for sure!

does the lush hair come in pre-tipped strands?  I guess I can just go have a little look-see on the website myself.  heh.  :-)  if not, I may try some bohyme or get pre tipped from EP if they sell it.  EP is pretty pricey, but the quality is fantastic.

Erin girl

EP is great...love em

The Softwear line does come pretipped. It's a silicone tip(for rings or shrinkies) They're pretty thin so you'd probably want to double them up.

Now, EP does offer nail hair (for fusion)to professionals only. For 70 pieces, 18" Silky straight dark colors, it's $168 and $178 for lights.

Never tried Euro or Italian, I always stick with Softwear, but the samples I have are beautiful!

*Oh yeah...Lush is pretipped for all methods. Though I use fusion and will give my tips an extra dip next install.

Alrighty girls...heres my final review.  10 weeks today with the Bohyme/Lush/Hair21 bonded wefts using LG! With shrinkied on highlight and lowlights.

Wow I cant believe I pushed this install this long. The Lg gold bonds were pretty well shot 2 weeks ago...and I just didnt have time for a new install. I took out my bottom row about 2 weeks ago, but everything else was still secure other than the next to bottom row was starting to loosen.

The Bohyme performed well....so long as I didnt try to put tighter spiral curls...I just felt like it looked frizzy. As long as I used a 3/4 barrel curling iron or larger or wore it straight it looked wonderful. The ends were fried and breaking, but I could trim about 2/3 inches off this hair and re-use it again another time.

The Lush*Hair and Hair21 hair performed about equal. The strands all look good upon removal and very little breakage or fried ends. The only difference between the two is that the Lush pretips are still intact upon removal. The hair21 pretips tend to come apart.

Overall I think the Bohyme and the Lush hair held up wonderful considering the amount of torture that I put my hair through on a daily basis. I wash, blowdry and curl everyday...and if ANY blonde hair can make it 3 months under those conditions its a WINNER in my book!

So yes I would definitely use Bohyme or Lush again...the only thing I would do diferently would be to use Bohyme bodywave instead of the silky straight since the Bohyme silky straight is a very sleek straight hair and I prefer more volume.

The lush hair has more body to it. It blows out straight, but has more volume.

I think thats it....dont think I forgot anything??
