I've been wearing my hair naturally curly for about 5 months now and this is my first time wearing it straight for a while.  It feels weird and for some reason I was scared to straighten it, even though I've flat ironed my hair hundreds of times.  I don't think I will be doing this very often like I used to though.  It's too damaging and I want my hair to grow.  I think I will do more wet sets and maybe try some bantu sets.
I didn't see as much growth as I would've liked but maybe that's because my stylist (whom I rarely if ever go to) gave me a "trim"  and cut about 2 and a half or 3 inches off.  She said it was uneven.  My bangs which were to my eyebrows are now down to my jawline.
In these pics I used my cheapie Remington Wet 2 Straight flat iron and my Fantasia hair serum, and a little Black and Sassy oil sheen.  It came out ok but not my best.  My hair is just blunt cut.  I need some layers or something but I'm too scared.  What do yall think?

on ur beautiful locks they may cut off more than u

Don't let the hairdressers cut your beautiful hair.  I don't trust any of them.  They always take more off than they say they will.
BTW, your hair is so long and healthy looking, I don't know why you're afraid to straighten it with a flat iron once in awhile.  You have a lot of length already and so you shouldn't be too afraid of damaging your hair.

Thanks cmesweet.  It came out pretty straight but I think the product I used weighed my hair down too much.  I am super critical of my hair (and everything else) and I never think it's right.  That's something I really need to get out of.

Thanks cookie!  I don't think I will ever get layers because like you said I don't want to be stressing about it afterwards and those hairdressers are so scissor happy.  They act like they don't even care about all the hard work it takes to keep your hair long and healthy.  There is a way that you can cut your own layers but I have to research that.  It seems like I can remember sistaslick saying she did but I'm not sure.  Forgive me if I'm wrong sistaslick  (bad memory).

Thanks chi.  You are right....for some reason I was just nervous since I hadn't flat ironed it in months.  I'm always scared that I'm going to burn it or scorch my ends but I've learned to be more careful now.

Pokahantas,,, I am just like you about hair now,,
too bad i wasnt so picky when i was 15 anyway,,
now if my hair is light and free,, i think i mustve
damaged it by not using enough product,, then if i
think i've used enough myhair will feel weighed
down and so on and so forth... but u just gotta
realize that nothing is absoultely perfect and thats
whats so beautiful about us,, anyway,, ur hair didnt
look weighed down in the pictures,, it just looked
healthy and pretty and very long,, u might do better
with the spray heat protectant by fantasia if u feel the
 serum weighs ur hair down....

Thanks for the advice cookie.  I wasn't picky at 15 either.  I probably did everything wrong because I didn't know what was good or bad but surprisingly my hair was still long then, just not as long as now.  Yeah, I think I will try the spray if I can ever find it.  Is it till working good for you?

when i was 15 my hair got shorter and shorter and
shoreter till they cut it almost to my ears cuz
of all the damage!! GRRRRRR im just getting it back
now,, and yes the Fantasia is still working for me,, as
a matter of fact i was able to do it myself!! for the very
first time and it looked just about as good as the
salon!! i feel so liberated!! ,, i only used the flat iron
instead of roller setting and all that,, im so happy i
think the MSM and flaxseed is working,, my hair just
seems healthier these days esp becuz i got rid of
 those awful ends....

Also, if you really want layers make sure you find a stylist that is willing to listen to what you want thoroughly and not just go scissor happy. Make sure before they even think of touching anything that you let them know and to show you the amount they are cutting before they begin!!
