Hi My name is Michael . I've been experimenting with coloring my hair red. I found a shade I like, 204rr (Real Reds) by Clairol, but on the sides/sideburns where I really need that grey coverage the color only holds for 1 week...ugggh...and when I apply the color to the sides it kind of beads up and gets black looking.? I used a #30 developer 1st then 1 wk later I re-dyed the sides/sideburns only w/ a #20 developer but the same thing happened after just one week...ugggh again...Any suggestions on how the get the color to hold on the sides/sideburns would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

an article that tells you how to pre-soften gray hair.  (I'm not sure 20 volume developer is actually 20% hydrogen peroxide...I don't think it is...they may know on the "hair color" board.  I know that hydrogen peroxide from the first aid isle will only be 3%, and I'd imagine 20% could burn you good - so there must be a special product they use to do that?...anyway they should know on the hair color board).

You can either use the 'Forum Jump' menu at the bottom of the screen to select 'Hair Color' (scroll down, is under 'Hair Talk'),

or click on 'HairTalk@Hairboutique.com' above to go to the menu with all the hairboutique forums and scroll down until you see Hair Color.
