In anguish over my latest microring damage, I dug out the clip-ins. Then I thought, "I have Pro-Flex!" I went to my hair vault and found some wefts of nice remy and went to work. Within 2 hours I had a full *scrumptious* head of hair. This stuff is so easy and I can't even feel it. My camera is dead in the water but I did get some taken while I prepped the hair. So here's to all who wonder what Pro-Flex is and how it works. It's available here http://shopping.netledger.com/s.nl/c.ACCT130693/sc.2/category.56/.f - here if anyone is interested and it's the $2 Blue Pro-Flex Strips.

First, I get me my strip and I hold it up to the lowest install point on my head and I measure the length I need. I make my cut and lay it flat...

I snip my weft same length as the Pro-Flex and pull back the white adhesive cover on one side and lay the weft down and press...

I then pull the top white adhesive cover off and then fold the top half over the bottom half...

Lifting the top half up carefully, the Pro-Flex adhesive will be affixed to the top part of the weft and the lower half is covering the other side of the weft...

Here's a close up of how clear the adhesive is...

That's all the photos I took and that camera went dead. I got my other camera out and now it's too dead to upload the pics I took when I applied it. I used sherrie's sandwich technique.

This is *so* comfortable. It kind of itched at first and felt like I had a wig on but after about 6 hours I am loving it. It feels very secure.

I am off to Las Vegas with my new head.

Thank you Pro-Flex!

In fact no its not, that's how I did it first but then found an easier way to apply it to the weft Amm.  You know the blue side, I peeled that off first which left the two pieces of the white stuff then I turned them over to expose the adhesive pressed down the weft up to the middle of them and then folded them over, peeled the first strip off, pressed it on the client's head and then peeled the second white half off.  I was able to see a lot better where I was sticking it rather than leaving the blue on x Its loads easier x

Thanks for the demo!

Here all this time I thought the holes were to integrate hair through...silly Gina

BTW amm...what type of weft is that? Looks thin for a machine weft

Date Posted: October 12 2005 at 9:18am

Something I dont understand....

After you attach the weft to the hair, is the tape on the outer side exposed? Are you then placing(really sticking) the client's hair on top of the tape?

How do you then remove safely? With the citris remover?

P.S. I am patiently trying to install my shrinkies but my lg never arrived.  I now need an in-between process and Im sick off my clip-ons.

Im confused about the proflex too. Why do you have the sticky stuff on both sides? I understand it on one side but why the other?  I was fiddling around today with some to see it stuck in hair and I had no luck with it.  Is it just like 2sided tape or is there some trick to it?

Cherry...

Cyber posted this link http://www.tressallure.com/watch_movie.asp - http://www.tressallure.com/watch_movie.asp

It made a lot more since to me after seeing that demo.

Posted By: cherrycoke
Date Posted: October 15 2005 at 10:29pm

I did see that video and Im still confused. They said they had 2 different types of strips didn't they?  I thought they said "protein strip" but Im not 100% sure, I couldn't really hear it right.

Do I just put 2 strips of the proflex on top of each other? One on my head then one on the hair facing each other?  I sort of thought that the reason the tress thing worked was because their were two different types of adhesives doing something.

Will you lose any hair taking these out? Is it easier on the hair then using latex glues?  Im just so scared of glues and adhesives.

They way I see it cherry... I'm gonna modify that video. Those  are seemless and I'm using handtied.

I bought the red tape. So here's what I plan to do: Part off like shown in the video. Lay the first strip down along that section and weave hair like the demo. Next...apply the pretaped weft over that section. I'm using red for both weft and parting. So yes, you'll want the two strips facing eachother.

Though I'm thinking you won't want much of the tape exposed over the weft. If you're going to integrate your sections...wouldn't want any exposed adhesive to adhere to loose hairs... where you don't wan't it?

Am I gettin it?

Hi amm, here`s Christine writing. So sad the package didin`t reach me at Monterey... I don`t know what went wrong but I assume the people at the front desk were responsible... and guess what? I`d been in Las Vegas too from the 12th until the 15th. We stayed at the Mirage and had a great time. Great Idea, this Pro-flex tape. It sounds as if you can avoid the pricking at the scalp where the weft is sewed. (I feel a little bit uncomfortable with that feeling). I hope everyone `ll know what I mean...

An update - my Pro-Flex that comes with the blue backing is holding great with the ones I applied with machine weft. Damn this is so comfortable! My hair falls like a curtain, too! I think someone asked what hair I was using - it's Madam 2K Remy. I buy it locally and the owner with the Jamaican accent always says "oooooooo mon, you want de white girl hair!" Too funny.

The hand-tied weft pieces (one on each side and one in the crown/back) fell out after the first wash.) I think it had to do with the fact the machine weft was perfectly flat and the hand-tied was so thin it was wavey and I think it eventually curled up under the Pro-Flex. Machine weft hair feels fabulous with these things I have to tell you. They have not budged! The only drawback so far is that I can't wash my scalp like I can with strand by strand and it feels like I am wearing a wig on 3/4 of my head.

Christine! We stayed at the Monte Carlo and strolled through the Bellagio drooling. I spent way too long in Sephora! :) I still have your beautiful weft! I will drop you a note.

Amm I like the way my weft bonded installs lay too...can you tell me about the Madam 2K remy? I remember you sent me a sample of it once. I need some more weft...dont want to go Bohyme again...and dont want to spend for EP .....need another alternative....ugghh

I really think I want to stick with my current method for awhile. Bonded tracks with highlight/lowlights shrinkied onto the wefts...I really like it! Although I have GOT to get my rear in gear and order some proflex to try...but there again...I need wefts!

Thanx amm, I am really glad about hearing from you!!! The weft will perfectly go together with my bulk hair I am going to pretipp. Your method sounds also worth a try. At the one hand side I need a method surviving a lot of sports and jumping around..., at the other hand side I like to change my style about every two month...Not the style in lenght, but the style in structure. My favorite the last two month had been curly hair with kinky structure, however, but it is still not the look I am searching for...I tried to create a link to where my album is located, but I am not sucssesfull, maybe you are able to get an impresion under this adress:www.memphisband.de,the singer, that is me.But it was my very first install....

sherrie, here's my Pro-Flex install. I took my own hair down to about a #6 with Color Charm and 20 vol developer just for fun and threw in some carmel highlights with bleach. I am really getting the hang of this coloring stuff. I went from this... to this.

Weeee!

The Pro-Flex is installed horizontally even with the top of my eyebrow and goes all the way across, around the back of the head and the other side. It's all the same level and then there's 2 rows on the side covering my ring damage and 3 rows in the back.

This is all Madam 2k that's in right now. It's a #6. I can't believe I went this dark but I love it.

This is 4 oz total. My head feels light as a feather. It's not big vavoom hair but I'm liking the different look.

This hair I have not been able to find online. I know others have found it in their bss because I've read the bad reviews. This is my first time wearing it 100% with no other hair mixed in. For bss hair, this is wearing nice. Not a hint of matting so far and I *never* wear this hair up or in a pony. It is always swinging free.

It's 51.00 + tax and that's the exact cost of it at the bss near my house. They have #613 right now because I called before they closed tonight. They may have other lighter blondes but I didn't ask. The package said 18" but I measured and it's a full 20". I'm not complaining though. More hair! It says "silky straight remy" and it is straight. The photo above I have it ironed super sleek. I would call its texture between Bohyme straight and Lush. It's not flat but it's not natural loose. It's just kinda "blah" and you either should iron it or curl it. It has this ummmm... smell when it's wet. It's like petroleum to me. It completely goes away and when my hair is dry it smells just like my shampoo/conditioner. Kinda wierd though when it's wet.

There's no shedding at all and I attribute that to a good weft but it's also encased in this Pro-Flex so it's really in there good.

Want some of this stuff? I can pick it up at the store and send off to ya if you want. Can't guarantee you'll like it but it's workin for me. :)

Christine, thanks for the link. I couldn't understand a word of it (LOL) but I did see you (hi!) and that long flowing hair.

Here's the weft I've tucked away. I opened it for you to get a good look at the texture.

Let me know if that's the texture that's going to work for you. I know you didn't want kinky and this is definitely not kinky or frizzy.

It looks awesome Amm, so thats only 4 ounces? and thats only 18/20 inch hair? It really looks so long! One of these days Im gonna get brave and try going a little darker with my hair.....one of these days!

Id be interested in the #613 and a #22 or #24 if they have it!

Oh and yes I know that smell you are talking about. It must be some chemical that they use when processing the hair...Ive smelled it before on wefts that I got from hisandhers. No smell when dry but when wet you could smell it very well. It goes away after awhile, or at least fades away to a very faint smell when wet.

Ok cool, I see your color prefs there. I'll go in there this afternoon
and see what they have. I'll get one and mail the receipt with it too.
:) If anything, it's a decent inexpensive emergency weft to have. I
always try to keep one on hand. Maybe I should put it in a glass
cabinet on the wall with a little fireman's axe next to it ... break in
case of emergency.

Amm, love the color.  Great for fall.  How many strips of 12" proflex did you use?  I am going to order some to try it, but don't want to order too much just in case I don't like it.

Also, what is the hair that you have pictured above for Christine?  I love the wave pattern, it is very similar to the indian hair, and I will be needing some real soon.  Where did you get it?

I just purchased that tape which resembles the Pro-Flex, Gina. Thanks for the link. That's going to be a great deal if it performs like this stuff I have now. I also picked up the senitak as well.

For all those still following along - I'm at 15 days wear and it's fab. I've got one where there's just a tiny little corner on the edge that's starting to peel up. I think I can easily fix that with a bit of LG and then press it down again. These puppies are really holding well.

i ordered some from that ebay-er, too, and i just got mine today. it`s supposed to be 10 of the 12" and 36 of the 3/4" tabs, but when i got mine, they sent me 15 of the 12", so it looks like i got more than what i was expecting . hopefully, if all goes well, i`ll be picking up some of that bioXhair that i used last time and trying this stuff out tomorrow. i hope i have as much luck as you`ve had!

Good score, kalena.

I'm now at 28 days and it's still as secure as it was at 15 days. That little edge is still loose but hasn't lifted anymore.

I tracked down the supplier for these and now have them on my site for less than $2 a strip. I didn't get any shorties because you usually end up with them anyway when you do trims off the 12" strips. About 5-8 strips is typical for a full install. Now how cheap is that!
