I got
relaxers put into my hair, apparently, it had no effect. I'm half
African-American, though my hair doesn't appear too coarse, so my
mother (who suggested not going towards harsher ones) put those
in. My hair looked exactly the same, frizziness went down slightly, and
I can sleep on my hair now and thats about it. Is there a way to remove
the chemicals, or would I really have to wait 3-4 months? I'm not
really patient and I really hate my hair...

I'm about 1/8 Kenyan (hehe:) ) and so I have curly hair, but it
straightens easily. I got relaxer put in my hair last winter, and I had
to wait about 2-3 months before I was able to wear it curly again.
Silly me used a strong relaxer so I had to wear it straight all the
time. Basically you've chemically altered the structure of your hair
and so there really isn't a way to un-do it.
Mild relaxers are generally supposed to just loosen the curl and tone
down frizziness. They are also supposed to also help cut down on
styling time. You can't get rid of the chemicals, but if you just keep
conditioning your hair and taking care of it should be ok. What exactly
do you hate about it?
What relaxer did you use? I'm thinking of putting extensions in my hair
but I want to use straight hair so I need something to help me
straighten it quicker. But I want something mild so that I will also be
able to go back to the curls when I take my extensions out. Thanks! I
hope I helped!
