since i've begun straightening my hair myself( instead of relying on the salon) for the past 2 weeks ,, i decided it was time to invest in a new iron,, i have a very decent babyliss and a more xpensive wigo onyx which catches and rips my hair out somtimes more than one hair at a time GRRR and i couldnt return the damn thing!! anyway, i purchased another newer version smaller babyliss and it was CRAP!! so i exchanged it for a solano sapphire 1 and 3/8 and it was only 3 bucks more than the dumb babyliss and works like a charm,, ive never used an iron so silky smooth,, it has the scissor design,, only thing idont like about it is that it has no temp control but it heats to the perfect temp!! and works in less passes than my other irons!!,, im lovestruck lol,, i did the went tissue test to make sure that the temp was not too hot( place damp tissue between the plates and if it browns or burns its too hott) and the water evaporated perfectly with nor charring,, i would use my babyliss at 180c and have to keep passing it till my hair as scorching,, and the solano's max temp is 210c with less passes so i think thats even less damage,,, BTW ,, its not actually sapphire,, its just a name,, its pure ceramic..... ------------- Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED |

210 C? That's 410 F. The max temperature on my Solia and my Sedu is 450 F, and I try never to use them that hot. Make sure you use a heat protectant on those ends.  ------------- Make every day you have count, before the time comes for you to count every day you have. |

yes thats true ,, it is a high temp but for some reason my hair does not feel nearly as hot to the touch as it did at 180 with my babyliss,, i think becuz i had to keep passing it over and over thru my hair which was doubling and tripling the temp,, im getting a truer temp with the solano,,, it has a little comb that i think does a great deal to help straighten it too,,, unfortunately i thought i was savign my hair by using a low temp like 160 or 180 on my babyliss but since i kept passing it my hair would be scorching! and with this solano at 210 i dont get that scorching feel ,, my hair is just warm!! im in love with it lol ------------- Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED |

Supersugar, which iron do you prefer Solia or Sedu?

I think the Sedu overall - the plates are flatter and it seems to do a better job of making my hair smoother. But in all fairness, if I had gotten the Sedu first, I wouldn't have liked it as much because my hair was shorter, and it would have been too broad to be useful - it's 1 1/2" wide and the Solia is 1 1/4". I think that the Solia does a better job of making curls/bobs, though. heat can be worse for your cuticle than a perm if used too often...
everyone's hair is different, but i would try to limit my use of heat
as much as possible.
