Hello all,

About 3 years ago, I had a small bald spot appear on the top of my hear.  I ignored it.  However, just in about 6-8 weeks, I started to lose hair all over my head.  From the sides, top, temples etc..

Non of my parents or there families or my family are bald.  Yet, every time I go to see a dermatologist, he/she say it is a variation of male pattern baldness and assumes it is heridity.  My questions are:

1. I eat fish and poultry but I don't eat red meat.  Could that be a cause?

2. I used to maturbate alot in the past several years, could that be a reason?

3. I am depressed almost always for many years, could that be a areason?

4. Any one knows of a good doctor in THe USA he/she recommends who can help.

Thanks alot

Kevin

The only thing on your list that I think could have any impact would be the depression. Stress and depression have (in my opinion) have a direct impact on your hair. When you are sick or aren't feeling well, it takes its toll on  your hair because your body concentrates on fixing whatever isn't feeling well. I know when I'm stressed because my scalp gets irritated and it turns into these weird little scale like things(almost like dandruff but a bit worse:( )

Try see a trichologist. They specialise in scalp and hair disorders and may  know a bit more about what you have than a dermatologist does. I don't know of any in the US, but I'm sure if you did an online search for trichologists in your area you would find one. Good luck!
